Not even being snarky - why would a shirt shrink just going through a cold wash? Is this something I don't know about?

This is an odd question. Even if cold washes, a little shrinking may occur. Keep in mind we are talking about oxford here too.

Why is that odd? The application of heat is what shrinks cotton, not water. When the cotton is used in construction, it is tensed and stretched out to its maximum length. When its reheated (in a dryer), it causes the cotton fiber to relax, and thus shrink back.

Also, why would the cloth being an oxford as opposed to some other type of cotton make a difference?

Well oxford is known as one of the cloths that tend to shrink the most.

Again, from my experience you can see some shrinkage even with a cold wash and hang dry.

Honestly never heard that about oxford cloth. Interesting, I'll have to keep an eye out.

Yes, its possible to see SOME shrinkage just from wetting and drying the cloth. So if you're at the very edge of the fit margins, it might be best to accommodate with a slightly larger size

There is method in my madness. I am right on the verge with the sleeves on a Kamakura New York slim.

I did some looking on SF and the brand sizes up it's sleeves enough, pre-wash, that I believe it's worth a shot.

Filson Original Briefcase - $99.99+tax (Orig. $248) @ Urban Outfitters B&M w/ FS I was searching for the Filson Original Briefcase after hearing such rave reviews about quality, and ended up getting ready to spend at least $225.
Called up Urban Outfitters (seemingly random place to carry it, but hey, they're local) to see if they had them in-store. They said they were out-of-stock but said you could order them in-store and have them shipped home at the clearance price of $99.99 w/ FS. Got the email receipt a few minutes after visiting the store.

This is the lowest price I could find, ever...considering Filson is a brand that is almost always excluded from sales.
