A friend of mine was fan of these things. He built a rally circuit in his house and a kinda F1 circuit but for 6 cars! Was amazing! I even bought a few cars to race because it was a lot of fun!

Near where I lived once was a business focused on electric slot car racing. It had a huge circuit. Dude were showing up with these highly tuned little electric cars. They had some great racing, the owners were a cool pair of stoners so when there weren't many people racing they would just let us race for free. It was only there about 4 months, not exactly a profitable business.

It was similar to this (incredibly fast):
