Help me pick a tie

I can imagine this comes up for others. We can use this thread in the future.

Which tie. Evening wedding. Slightly informal. Here are the options. I can also go with a bright red knit, but that may be too informal.

For sake of argument, yes. I have about 20 suit, 150 shirts and 200 ties, so I need to narrow things down.

Not that much. But I'm not an expert in colour combination. The one in the attatchment #5 looks good, but the white, red and blue stripe, I think will charge the outfit a lot. Maybe something striped with just two colours.

The one with the westies on it. It's a bit mathcy-matchy with the shirt, but it has westies on it.

I think a solid colour knit tie in dark navy would be good.

I have twice worn brown to a wedding. Tweed. One was for the wedding of a farmer's son and took place in an actual barn (his dad's lambing shed) with straw on the ground; the other was at a country house and had a shooting-party themed dress code to match. I wore a tie with pheasants on it for that one.

It was a semi casual outdoor wedding, last night. I like to do different colors because everyone is in navy blue. The men look like a herd of secret service agents. Its a little redundant. I have a few perfectly serviceable navy suits. You can question my choice, but it was by intent. By the way, 1/2 the men there weren't even wearing a jacket, or if they were it was discarded after a few vodka tonics.

And in my defense, the camera highlights the stripes WAY too much, they are quite muted in real life, hardly noticeable.

Well, you made a post in the Challenging iGent thread about boring wedding attire. And I can see wanting to spruce it up. But when you post a pic of a brown suit that looks like it has faint gold stripes, you're bound to get shit on.

3 out of 3 items with a pattern? Bold move. I would have gone brown suit, blue solid shirt and some kind of brown tie.

I gravitate to patterns. I mixed all the patterns but the stripes were so muted you'd barely see it, especially in a darkened area. My PS was also muted, but had some red and blue. And the paisley is also fairly muted.
