Hidden Button Down Collars

Bottom line, button down shirts are charming. Why hid the buttons?
When they are perfect, they are fine. Sooo often the buttonhole is too big, the stitching isn't quite presentable, the placement not quite right, the collar button is too tall, too small, too big, too cheap. I just want the points constrained, and the buttons are of zero to negative value in most cases.

I like them.

Anyone ever heard of an attempt to convert a non-bd into a bd? I imagine the labor part isn't too intense.

No, but most modern sewing machines make buttonholes pretty simple. I guess use some little fabric scrap to reinforce the button (salvaged of another shirt?). The collar shape would be off, lacking the exended flared end.

If you got an old, thrifted 70s long floppy shirt collar you could do it. But what would be the point?

Point =small bd /shirt pun/wordplay

Great. One more thing for retards to handle incorrectly. We have a guy at the office who believes that the buttons on a button-down collar are only to be used with a tie. I tried to explain it to him and he said, "What else are they for? Think about it." So this dildo walks around on Casual Fridays, collar unbuttoned, no tie, sprezz as fuck.

Trying to correct guy's sartorial faux pas is hard. I know a really successful guy who buttons the bottom button of his jacket. Always, without fail. He's from one of the former Soviet Republics that ends with a 'stan. That may have something to do with it.

I don't think it has nothing to do with 'where you are from," but rather ignorance.

I wasn't really being serious, rather taking advantage of a stereotype. For example:

I love getting unsolicited advice on how to dress well from blokes who dress like slobs. It's surprising how often it happens. Bloke in grubby over washed Kathmandu fleece, baggy jeans or black trousers and hybrid sneaker/shoes scuffed. Me in neat, snappy suit and tie and clean. Him: you should never wear 2 stripes together you know.

Why thank you. . I'll make a note. Any advice on showering each day or shaving, more than once a week?

If you order stuff from Kathmandu, don't be surprised if it picks up a few tourists in route.

Sort of Northface faux city hiking bush walking clothing. Overpriced, dull, very dull colours. Mostly technical material but middle class people seem to manage to wear it everywhere. Plenty wear it to work and I saw one or two with it on at a fucking funeral last week.

To me khatmandu clothing is symbol and signifier of all that is wrong satorially with this country. Possibly I'd go further and say it's an outward manifestation of what's wrong with our society.
