- However, many people report that J.Crew stores will accept final sale items back if you ask nicely.
- In addition, I've had good luck messaging J.Crew chat and asking if I could buy two sizes of final sale items and then only keep the one that fits best; they've never said no, and all you need to do is message them again to send back the one that doesn't fit (or perhaps both if neither of them fit at all). YMMV!
Data Deep Dive!
- I posted here the last time J.Crew had an extra 50% off sale over Memorial Day Weekend:
- In this round of the sale, there are 660 "variants" that are code eligible (variant = product + color + fit).
- Confirmed that this sale is the lowest "effective price" for every item since the previous 50% off sale over Memorial Day. (Extra % off promo codes were ~30-40% off between Memorial Day and now.)
- Also confirmed that every single item dropped in effective_price overnight. No manipulation of prices such that the total % off is the same even with the new code.

- I'm building a website where all the J.Crew data will live, plus other brands that I am already tracking or will be tracking soon. I'll be sure to announce here as soon as the beta site is live!
- The primary feature is an "effective price" history chart and table, where you can track the true out the door price of EVERY item from a brand over time.
- The site will work similar to camelcamelcamel.com (Amazon price history tracker), where you take a URL from the brand and paste it into a lookup box to see the price history for that item.
- Other planned target brands: J.Crew Factory, Madewell, Gap, Banana Republic, Brooks Brothers, Ralph Lauren, Todd Snyder, Billy Reid, Abercrombie, Lands' End, Allen Edmonds, Spier & Mackay, Faherty, Levi's, & more.
- If there are any other brands you're interested in being tracked, please let me know!
- And if there are any specific features you'd be interested in, let me know as well. The beta site will be pretty bare bones, but I'm definitely planning to add features like saving items, email notifications, etc. over time.
