They don't think that they look normal - as we've discussed on DW before, the whole aim of these Pitti-ful fools is to look different, and to dress outrageously so that they stand out.

Of course, when everyone is dressing like a clown, you need to dress even more outrageously so as to attract attention, hence the entirely unbuckled double monks, the calf-length trousers in a bright red tartan-like check, the overcoats flung over the shoulders, the capes, the huge lapel flowers, the ten bangles on the wrists, the ascots, the hats and so on and on.

The negro men selling umbrellas etc in Florence also love to wear these kind of rings. Seems to be in the genes.

Funny story:
ONCE! while riding the train from lucca to florence some of these salesmen forgot their umbrellas and fake handbags in the train
how we laughed

Indeed. I'm pretty sure they know very well they look stupid. All they want is publicity, whether that's positive or negative doesn't matter much. As long as they get attention for their persona/brand, they're happy.

It's working, because you guys are all looking at the pictures, talking about it and falling over each other to be the first to critisize them like the sheep you are. It's exactly the same as haute couture, concept cars, etc.

Just get as many people talking about it, and when the actual clothes/cars are released, people know the brand and say, hey that doesn't look so bad, open their wallets and spend all their cash.

Except in most cases i don't know the brand and even if i do I'm not going to buy it. So if i am a sheep for criticizing their ridiculous get ups then i don't think it's baaad.
 
It worked for our favourite tie maker though. He went from nothing to being in magazines and conchita's main tie supplier all by dressing outlandishly and bein photographed with his ancient thirsts.

I'll let those who have seen him in the flesh comment on what he dressed like prior to him hitting it "big"

The initial uptake of PC ties was via recommendations rather than seeing him dressed like a clown at Pitti. That came later as the people who ooh and ahh at #menswear blogs got into the game. As well as his entry as an AV at SF
 
I just have to say you fellas are not very good at using gay as a put down.

Holy shit! Why do the Pitti elite play such tricks on us sheep? I just want to know who is a #menswear afficianado and not a homeless person so I can buy their clothes.
