Tools Needed To Maintain Your Wardrobe

I worry that bones (boans) obtained from Harveybirdman will be accompanied by some sort of Native American curse, ala Strange and Unusual. Stuff catching on fire, spirits riding on the wind, and unremovable rain welts that you can't bone (boan) out, no matter how much or how hard you rub them...

Word, I thought I saw a Horween video where they dragged a knife blade across a piece of shell cordovan to scuff it to hell, then basically buffed it out with a rag. There was no mention of having to kill a deer if a little mist got on the shoes.

You should really get the NRA in on this.

We've taking to adding vinegar to our dishwasher loads as well. I approve.

Also, I am buying a cordovan bone and a new horsehair brush.

Tonight, I broke out Saphir Cordovan Creme for my Cigar LWBs.

*Darth Vader Breathing* Impressive... most impressive.

Have had the product for almost a year, but always satisfied myself using Renovateur. The cordovan creme really seems to shine up well. No bone (boan) yet though...

Oh yeah, even Allen Edmonds does one now!
Are these an old school Euro thing or a modern trendy deal? I thought the former but read the latter.

I don't really know if it is an old school design or not. I've only become aware of them in the last decade or so but I wasn't looking before

The Best Clothing Iron and Ironing Board

After our latest round of testing in December 2015, our new iron pick is the Black+Decker D3030 Allure. It replaces our former top pick, the T-fal Ultraglide, which developed leaks in long-term testing. We also have a new runner-up and upgrade pick—the Shark Ultimate Professional G1505 and Rowenta DW 9280 SteamForce—and review ironing boards for the first time, choosing Laundry Solutions by Westex as a fine option and theHOMZ Durabilt as an upgrade.

After testing dozens of hangers over the span of seven months using a range of clothing, and querying experts in the home-organization and garment industry, we recommend Proman’s Kascade Hanger Amazon product ASIN B000OSJMSEas the best and most durable general-purpose hanger for most wardrobes.

Last Updated: April 8, 2016
After seven months of everyday testing, the Amazon product ASIN B000OSJMSE beat out similar-looking competitors such as IKEA’s BUMERANG and The Container Store’s Basic Natural Wood Hangers thanks to consistent, smooth, and solid construction. We also decided on new picks for a pant hanger, a skirt hanger, and a luxury hanger for suits and coats.

Lightweight and slim with uniform construction, the Proman Kascade Hanger is an affordable, classic, and versatile clothing hanger style. Its consistently smooth edge finishing, its hooks for chain-linking hangers vertically, and its sturdy construction set it apart from competing models we reviewed. Our top all-purpose wooden hanger pick is strong enough to hold heavier winter coats, even suits, and it also accommodates all types of clothes, including pieces with delicate straps. If you buy a box, you’ll probably never have to worry about buying hangers again.

For pants and trousers, we like The Container Store Chrome Pant Hangers. The PVC nonslip coating holds pant fabric firmly, allowing for easy browsing through a closet, but it also permits pants to slide off without sticking, in contrast to rubber-coated models. The slim shape is space efficient but prone to causing slight creasing, unlike bigger and bulkier felt-bar designs.

Expensive but anticrease
Kirby Allison's Hanger Project Luxury Wooden Felted Trouser Bar Hanger
A felt-covered pant bar keeps your trousers free of a crease, but this model is four times the price of our pants pick.
If you can spend considerably more, get the Kirby Allison’s Hanger Project Luxury Wooden Felted Trouser Bar Hanger. This hanger style is pricey, but it uses premium materials and has an excellent finish, with a pant bar that both grips and prevents creases better than the rest. Available in two sizes and three wood finishes, this hanger is a luxurious splurge worthy of your special-occasion slacks and trousers.

Some suits and coats deserve extra care, and the Kirby Allison’s Hanger Project Luxury Wooden Jacket Hanger is designed for garment storage of expensive items whose shape you wouldn’t entrust to a noncontoured wooden hanger. Its very wide shoulder yoke supports the heaviest garments without causing dimpling or creasing.
