man this catalan situation is a mess. rajoy can't be this incompetent can he?

One side wants a referendum no matter what. The other says no referendum vote no matter what. Not much of a middle ground. It does make the Kurdish Iraqi referendum look civilized.

Thruth Thruth Arnathor Arnathor Fwiffo Fwiffo can anyone tell me about this Jagmeet Singh guy? where's he stand on the issues?

Bernie with a turban:

tax the rich & corporations, estate taxes, green, LGBTQI2S-lover, soft on crime (no mandatory sentences, no solitary confinement, restorative justice/rehab), $15/hr minimum wage, legal weed, LGBTQI2S, LGBTQI2S, LGBTQI2S

What happens in the next 24 hours now is critical: will they declare independence or not?

The vote will likely be skewered in favour of leaving, as if you wanted to remain part of Spain, once the vote had been declared illegal, you would likely stay at home.

Unless you are this guy:

"That wasn't how Borja Gomez saw it when he woke up Sunday morning and turned on his television. Mr. Gomez hadn't been planning on voting and he wasn't in favour of Catalonia leaving Spain. But when he saw images of police beating voters, he rushed to the nearest polling station to cast his vote. 'The things that I saw today made me say, 'Yes, I want to vote,' said Mr. Gomez, a 30-year-old accountant who ended up voting Yes. 'This is not a democracy. It's an embarrassment.'"

It appears Mr. Rajoy is not a student of history. Violent suppression of dissent and zero sum game thinking leads to more neutrals throwing their hat in against you a la the Soviet Union or a contemporary example, Mr. Assad and what's left of Syria.

You're thinking about Jagmeet Singh at 5am in the morning? He should be flattered.

He became a leader of a third place party that for the history of the nation only fleetingly was in the lead to form government for a period of a month in the last election. They are perennially behind in fundraising and can never discipline the labour union and the more pragmatic socialists.

Mr. Singh inherits a party with the bulk of its sitting MPs in francophone Quebec; the home of the only province in Canada that wants to ban headgear in public places. He was propelled to top of the ticket by people outside of Quebec. If he has any chance in moving the needle in the next election he has to maim his own base and grow one outside of Quebec as the incumbent ruling party is running in the mid 40s and basically eliminated any chance of them sweeping that province and cobbling together other seats for a chance at being the opposition (I won't flatter their chances at being the government).

Mr. Singh claims he is a millennial when he is 38. Likes to use the word 'like' and other millennial lingo but given I'm closer in age to being a millennial than him, how much of that is for show? He frequently posts on social media and brags about his suits and personal wardrobe. In fact, in a recent interview he said he would be a younger and better dressed version of the Prime Minister.
Perhaps there are some votes to be won if he starts posting regularly in WAYWN. He also boasts of his athleticism from his MMA training. Expect a bout between Mr. Trudeau and him - although Mr. Trudeau is a boxer so under what rules will the younger MMA fighter challenge the older boxer - who knows, but I believe that story has already been written once.

Diversity, diversity, diversity. Everywhere. Everyday.

As a case in point, the social services system including shelters will be LGBTQI2S-friendly and optimized for them

I thought that made his position very clear.

#PrayforCanada

We won't have to worry. Third rate party which has only been official opposition once.

Socialists do well at the provincial level. Won't ever lead Canada.

Besides, Justin is out-NDPing the NDP with his socialist shite

Exactly.

Is it fair to call the PC's the conservatives-in-name-only? CINO?

Prime minister Theresa May gets her P45 (UK termination of employment tax certificate). Comedian spoof. Well done for evading security.

The highlight of the conservative conference.

If only. On current form I suspect she will muddle along. A stalking horse is needed for a leadership challenge.

Someone needs to do something, as an untried force, I would stake my bet on JRM to deliver Brexit and affluence to the UK under difficult circumstances. But knowing the Conservatives they might go for another safe non-descriptive non-identity to placate the rank mediocrities in their midst and the EU. I guess a lot of them are into cuck porn.

May is bad. Rudd is even worse. Hammond is also dreadful. There are a lot of them blocking progress.

You also have the political challenge that it is bad to be seen to wield the knife yourself.

Rudd is scary in her lack of self awareness. Dreadful lady.

What is cuck porn anyway?

Getting turned on by your missus or girlfriend getting beasted by another man, whilst you look on all flaccid and wimp like being told you can't satisfy her. Specialist, probably not cheap. If you're going to have a fetish best to keep it cheap, cheery and STD free. The humble balloon fetish or Marigold glove one is ideal from this perspective.

Isn't that every political party in modern times? Last I checked, altruism and doing it for the love of the people doesn't win you an election.

Catalonia independence: Puigdemont 'will not accept' Rajoy plan

Yes - let's keep ratcheting up the zero sum game moves. That's going to work better than de-escalation.

"Reports say that Spain's interior ministry is preparing take control of Catalonia's Mossos d'Esquadra police force and remove its commander Josep Lluís Trapero, who is already facing sedition charges. The government is also considering taking control of Catalonia's public broadcaster TV3, El País newspaper reported."

Looks like the NK "conflict" starts to pay off...

Theresa May is useless. Why they hold on to her is a mystery to me. Must have friends in higher places.

I see the day coming when basically everything can be construed as "sexual harassment" or at least "hurtful" up to the point when you say "Hello" to somebody and he, she, hen doesn't like the tone of it. Mostly when done by white men, of course.
Oh, and according to a children's trauma expert, tickling your kids can set them up for sexual abuse (is for real, she was on the Jeremy Vine radio show).
Meanwhile our newcomers commit horrible acts like rape and acid attacks and apparently that's ok. I don't see the MSM report about these crimes as much.

Just get rid of all those useless parasites and dissolve parliament altogether and let the Queen declare the immediate exit from the EU.

While the hour is late, the mood and tide is changing in the right direction.

We can rejoice in this socialist anti-monarchist Corbynista acolyte and gobshite who had wormed her way into the British Council has now had justice served:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...ed-Prince-George-insult-loses-court-case.html

When this first kicked-off, I wrote to the local British Council that we would no longer be recommending, promoting or sending our foreign staff to their English courses until this torrid individual was removed. And I held true to this position.

The reason being either the British Council was for the Queen as Patron, or against her and they needed to prove they stood by Her Majesty, or where against Her. In which case we would take our business elsewhere. Which I did.

We must all remain engaged in this battle, as small as our participation may seem.

Do you decide on language courses for your entire (non-British, right?) organisation, and set their official policy for procurement of courses?

And you don't believe that individuals in a company should be allowed to have private views? (Though in this case it's obviously stupid to post comments like that in public, if people know where you work.)

In actual election news, my state had one of the most staggering elections I've ever seen. Some of the margins Northam ran up are crazy, and the House almost completely flipped.

Because he's such a popular president?
Look at his landslide electoral victory. Look at everything he’s accomplished despite a powerful Democratic party trying to stop him every step of the way. The only reason a few scatterings of people think he’s unpopular is because of the herculean efforts of the crooked media.

America loves Trump. Trust him on this.

Trump lost the popular vote and every single poll has his popularity tanking to historic lows.

Twelve months of Trump have made Virginians vote for shitty Clintonesqe grey corporate Democratics in the zeal to oppose Trump. Or transgender candidates. Or Socialists. Or anyone who claims to be anti-Trump.
