Aging: That Harsh Mistress

I feel like my doc is always trying to find new tests to throw at me for each annual check-up. This year he threw in a testosterone count. I was kinda hoping it would come in low, I’d get prescribed free shit to bulk up and feel young again… but the results just came back above average.

How to get rid of puffy eye lids. I have tried a bunch of items including Korean facial care, nothing works.

black or green tea bags. not an old wives tale or internet hack. high enough caffeine levels to cause vasoconstriction which lowers blood flow to the tissues resulting in less puffiness. also makes your skin taut and sexy like

Interesting. Are the fancy cosmetics products mostly just caffeine?

Wasn't that because Preparation H had biodyne so women started using it to get rid of puffy eyes?

Alice was 45 years old when the series started. Today, she would look/dress more like a 25yo than a 65yo:

A Facebook post just reminded me that my grandfather in law is nearly 103 and still doing well.

Hair loss and getting hair in other places (nose) is bad. I haven't a clue given my ancestry why I get in grown facial hair from time to time. I think the minoxidil I am using is encouraging other hair growth.

Are you still taking oral minoxidil? I went to my dermatologist for an annual cancer screening and she mentioned she could prescribe it for me and my insurance would cover all the cost. It was the last thing I was expecting to be talking about and something I’d never considered before then.

Oral? No, I don't have heart issues (yet). Topical. aka Rogaine. I have finasteride - oral 1mg/day.

My father is on spironolactone (spiro) but not because of hair loss, because of his heart failure. He started going bald and shaving it off in his 60s and now regrew all of his hair back except some temple recession in 18 months.

Not sure why she offered me oral. Maybe because insurance will cover it.
I started to use minoxidil a long time ago. At the time I was shedding a lot but also greying. I thought I would end up like Clooney but minoxidil foam just sped up the growth cycle. All my my weak wispy and grey hairs fell out. But the growth cycle seemed to accelerate with my remaining hair.

As minoxidil is proven to be absorbed through the skin in decent quantities (from the studies by the company that started Rogaine) you can skip some of the drug side effects by not having it going through the rest of your veins.

This is not the same with finasteride where there isn't a proven study that applying it topical has the same effect (yet).

Is that the one that has ED as a side effect? So you are trading good boners for good hair?

Yes. But my sex drive was declining before I started it anyway. Alcohol certainly didn't help. I discovered that when a stripper was grinding me and she was mildly unamused she had no effect (versus my ex work mate who was having a super reaction to his girl...as reported by his girl). I did a baseline test of all my male and female hormones before I started it. This was in case I needed to figure out what to fix if it all went tits up.

So far I'd say my sex drive is at the level it was going to be without it. I still get nocturnal erections during the night. I don't have any inadvertent breast enlargement. It takes longer to take a piss even though I think this pill was supposed to fix that. But I think it was going to take longer to take a piss even if I didn't take it. I would say any sense of brain fog and lack of attention to details (which Thruth always cites about my article links) is the same as before. If anything cutting alcohol, sleeping more, ditching smoking cloves and recreational drugs gave me back more clarity than abstinence from finasteride. As I'm not a porn star I'm not worried.

I did get a dull testicular pain in the first day or two but it went away. It felt like wearing very tight briefs and being strapped with a seatbelt into a vehicle for hours on end. You can ignore it and there wasn't a need to put a bag of ice on it like someone who throws a baseball into your crown jewels.
