Agreeable Menswear Post Of The Day

Seriously, that Parisian Gentleman dude scares the heck out of me. He doesn't even need a mask for Halloween.

He's one of those men in late-middle-age who has been hanging on to the same hairstyle since he was at university, even though it doesn't suit him at all and he should have had it all cut off about thirty years ago.

Thanks

That and the horrid fit of his suits. I mean, if it was RTW or MTM then OK, it could be passable, but bespoke? Leaves a lot to be desired. Same thing with other bloggers, specially spanish ones - it seems as if only mediocre bespoke tailors agree to make garments for them.

I am not sure if I agree with you, There are not many Spanish bloggers around 4? One of them dresses horribly and the other three dress okay.

I mostly talk about El Aristocrata and Vestirseporlospies. Salva had horribly fitting stuff in the past but has gotten somewhat better now. Who is the other? Olaizola?

Most of the time, though not always, I like how they dress (their combos), it's the fit of their stuff that bothers me. I'd expect much better from bespoke clothes.

Yes, The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse :-)

Vestirse por los pies is disaster, the other 3 are not so bad.

I don't think they use mediocre tailors at all and I also don't think that the fit is so mediocre. None of them has an Andreas Weiner body but the result is not so bad. The bespoke dudes has used Serna (Salva and El Aristocrata too) and he looks fine as well.

Serna is not that bad. Gallo is terrible, so is Langa (the jackets Joaquin cuts for himself are monstrosities). Calvo de Mora, I have mixed feelings (a donegal jacket made for Craptom in the past was quite good). But that guy from vestirseporlospies wins the prize, no matter what tailor he uses the outcome is always horrid.

The results as you say are not that terrible sometimes, it's just that I would demand better results from bespoke (starting with a fitted armhole, which is something few spanish tailors do), but perhaps that's just me.

I think pictures and exhibits and doodles and eggplants are necessary to fully convey the nuances of Iberian fashion blogging.

wasnt it the aristocrat blogger that tried to sexually assault Lumpen Lumpen ? you, robertito robertito or aristoi bcn aristoi bcn ever had that honour?

Fortunately not. I met Joaquin Fernandez once though, and while he's a nice person and certainly knows how to sew, doesn't look like he knows how to cut to hide bodily flaws, as the pic above demonstrates. He might actually be a pretty good coatmaker but not a good cutter.

This is the allegedly best Spanish tailor (passed away a couple of years ago) for the worst Spanish bogger.

Lifeless but sleeves don't look twisted.

I like the curve of the front quarters.

Unlined back and bad position make it look worse, or so it seems.

I prefer Calvo de Mora over Gallo. That suit is horrible and the armholes seem low, like cheap RTW...

I highly dislike these typical Spanish rounded lapels gorges.

Julaizorra? Never heard him before, who is him?

This is a true aberration, guy has very wide upper legs ( nothing wrong on it, we are not top models ourselves, but bespoke is to make an unharmonious body look harmonious, and on this particular case, it exagerates his defects with a too short fancy jacket.

Lapels are gaped, but at least he is doing better Spanish sleeves, since the sleeve is the only thing more or less ok.

Also, why is he walking with his two balls at a side? Going to show off on the aristocrat dungeon lodge parties?

Looks like a 250 euros rtw marriage tacky suit, I see those all the time.

Defects: totally lack of style and class, looks random late 90s zara.
Wide sleeves, defects on his shoulder shape: wrinkles on the back.

What tailor does a bad too long hemmed trouser? If this was the best, we already know the worse...

Lucky luke cowboy shoes! Top class!!!

i typically dislike anything spain

Olaizola, from www.classicdetails.es, probably the Spanish blogger I like most. He dresses in a somewhat dandified way which I wouldn't do myself, but suits him. While he would probably be considered a tacky here, he's imho miles ahead the other three spanish bloggers, and so is the guy from Sprezza (Andres).
Urmh... I am a tacky shill now! :ahahahaha:

Spain produces well made, inexpensive shoes. They also produce sherry, Rioja and various other wines, plus very good fruit and vegetables, including oranges, plus Serrano ham. That’s not too bad for a start.
You forgot to add they produced SARTO

Have you been to Berlin recently...?

I meant a direct door my British friend. France and Germany as UK are of course partly occupied by the 3rd and 4th worlds. Old Europe is doomed to extinction with the complicity of her elites. At least British have a sense of honor and kept their survival instinct. French and Germans are living dead.
