Agreeable Menswear Post Of The Day

This kid is trying hard to be a #menswear influencer and shiller, but his outfits are usually pretty good:

I really like this guy’s attempt to mix tailored clothing with workwear and he seems like a very nice chap, but it always comes out looking very not great. So I’m happy to see an occasional success (or, at least, non-fail):

Edit: I just realised that I own that same sport coat 🤣

Posting this one mostly as a counter to the one I dropped in the Disagreeable thread the other day.

It looks like he actually wears his shit beyond Instaposing. No dandy accessorising with jewellery, keys, chains, bandanas, hats etc and it’s all pretty simple and plain.

It's a pretty classic look since Jimmy Dean gave it to the masses. Been used and abused ever since. Fonzie, Ramones, Springsteen

I no like the too big cuffs affectation, and the strap and buckles on the boots will annoy the hell out of you as they catch the bottoms of the jeans like RMWs tabs. . Otherwise, 8 outa `10.

Funny you mention Mr Dean. I was just re-watching RWAC the other night. I took a few screen shots to get details on the McGregor Antifreeze jacket, Lee 101Z jeans and Chippewa engineer boots.

Chippewa had a pretty short strap and shiny buckle on their boots. The 101 jeans had an 8ish inch opening at the bottom, so I’m still a little surprised he got them over the boots so easily - maybe he had small feet and the boots had a narrow shaft. And unlike the Levi’s of the time, Lee were sold in different lengths so didn’t need any cuffing.

If any jeans fans are interested, Raleigh Denim is running their last batch of White Oak Cone denim now. I snagged a pair last month, as my Cone Mills 505s are basically shot by now. They are MTO so take a bit to get, but highly recommend. They are making maybe 50 pairs I think?

Everybody does. We're all Mr Ripleys.

I used to like his pics but he disappeared from the internet some time ago. Not sure why. Does he have instagram now? He shut his blog down a while back IIRC.

Oddly enough, he seems to have moved to Threads and has been posting fairly regularly recently.

What is Threads? Never heard it before.

I hope it´s not moderated by cluster b pinkos

Invite him him, the other unforum is neither for him. It's only for tackys and degenerate pinkos and welfare bidenists.

Wait, is this a surprising look? I was dressing like this in my early 20s all the time (albeit with a better mug/haircut).

I don't think it's very popular anymore, but I still keep a few leather jackets around. A suede is nice if you can swing the cash.

As the caption says, this was primarily a corollary post - the antithesis to a particularly bad SWD/workwear pic I posted in the disagreeable thread.

Cross-zips have been a constant for 70+ years, though they definitely hit peaks of resurgence in the 80s and 2010s. These days vintage aviators, Cossacks and half belts are very popular with the crowd. Suede is more popular with the menswear set as it’s a bit delicate for the “rugged workwear” types (though I know there are some lovely rough-out goat hides that are anything but delicate).

Engineer boots were super niche and hard to find until 5-10 yeRs ago, but now there has been a proliferation of mtm bootmakers both in the US and Indonesia, China, Philippines and Korea.

Post pics from your twenties and we will tell you how well you did and judge your mug and haircut.

Rare pic of me:
I'm au courant; Loose fit, shirt untucked, open necked camp collar, baggy trousers, muted tonal colours, short pineapple haircut, Chinese Double Happiness ciggie.
