Disagreeable Menswear Post Of The Day

I thought he was a youngish chap?

If he was a cheese he'd be this:

1) Anonymous is right.
2) What fucking style? What's so special about this coat? Crompton never says. Of course. Because he doesn't know. Typical Crompton answer, this: make a strong assertion and avoid the details.
3) Many of them do offer hand-finishing. Again, a deliberate half-truth.

Oh really?
1) So Crompers bases his "authoritative" reviews on the opinions of his "friends".
2) What exactly does he have in mind when he says "style" and "approach"? Deconstruct his answers, and you're left with nothing but bullshit. How many different approaches can there be? I mean you go in, get measured up, pick the fabric and the details, have a first fitting, a second, and third, and that's it. And this coat is MTM so it's even more standardised. Style? How much variation in style can you really have? It's a coat, after all. With two arms, a front opening, a neck, two lapels, two cuffs, and pockets in the usual places.
3) Crompton's Savile Row tailors couldn't comment on style? What kind of moronic tailors did he patronise?

His so-called reviews are hagiographies, and his answers sound like press releases by the firm's PR outfit. I don't know who he bothers with the comments section.

He's very much a member of the new aristocracy of the London liberal intelligentsia and petit bourgeois media class: as long as it's in London it must be good. Anything outside in the provinces must be suspect and vulgar and he definitely wouldn't risk it, likely he'd shit his pants.

Actually he's been shitting on British style for about five years now. It's all Napoli this, and soft shoulder that, and forever going on about how British tailors cannot do "style".

Sometimes I wonder if there's a backstory to it. Rumour has it he was turned away with a flea in his ear by some of the Savile Row houses when his demands for free suits got too outrageous.

Now for a Pic Of The Day.

Anderson and Sheppard is verri soft and it's British. So is Steven Hitchcock. Heck, even a Huntsman dissection by Jefferyd found much less bulk inside the jacket than expected.
Not all Neapolitan tailoring is soft either.

Can’t believe he was turned away for requesting a free suit. After all he’s constantly reminding us that price is of no importance as he could easily afford all the stuff he reviews anyway. Like eight grand for that overcoat pictured above that fits like a sack of King Edward spuds.

I think Crompers just wants to show how clever he is. Since everyone knows British tailoring is superb, he says it's not. Just to be different. He does it in his answers to readers' comments too. If you say the Earth is round, he will say it is flat, and anyway it is not bespoke.

British tailoring does not carry the current wow factor that Italian and other tailoring does especially with the IG and Igent set.

If Craptom is going to maintain his style influencer influence he has to whore himself to what the current rage is.

As for being able to deal with criticism in the comments he refuses to agree.

Even Sarto busted him on calling Langa ta Tanga shirts shit and then better than the Kiton.

Just read this. My tailor does a milanese buttonhole for 10 Euros. I saw him a Caruso jacket and the video Darren did and voila. Admittedly the first one wasn't very good, but he said that he only needed practice, now they are far better. Can't London tailors do the same for let's say 50 squid?

Those shoes...It is one of trends these belgian loafers. Rubinacci does them, Baudoin&Lange and they both look very camp - the shoes that is. Crompton said that the Baudoin were the most comfortable belgian loafers that he ever tried.
They look like slippers that one would wear at home, and still...

The Belgian loafers certainly aren't going to be winning any awards in the not looking like an insufferable twat category however I thought the cuffs on the jacket the more egregious sin.

I jjajajajajajaj and lololololololol at excessive focus on how button holes are stitched.
