The first suit: immortal conundrum

Depends on the lady surely? I am sure there are some nice young ladies who would appreciate a young man going places in a navy blazer, flannels and a button-down with decent collar role. Or am I just kidding myself?
There's not that many, but I can assure you that there are. :)

She would be like "wtf are you thinking"
Depends which places you go to. For example, I'd never even think of going to a club or bar to meet ladies. I do things which peak my interest and if there's a girl there which I find attractive then I go and talk to her.

Blazers works best with jeans for the young bucks. Pants are better reserved for the older bucks.
I only own two pairs of jeans and they've seen the light of day much less than flannel trousers, I find them not as comfortable and flattering, really.

Dark denim and blazer is a smart look in my opinion.

Flannel and blazer are equally nice, but not best for the youngsters IMO.

I understand your point of view, however I feel a bit constricted in jeans, if you get what I mean, it's never as comfortable as the fuzzy feeling of wool.

No, I understand what you mean, some jeans can be a bit tight, especially in certain areas. However, jeans manufacturers do make various cuts. So perhaps a more relaxed fit is in order.

Flannel is a nice material for trou, especially the softer Italian flannels. They can, and do (in my case) wear out quite quickly in the crotch.

Why does this question need two pages of blithering nonsense?
Buy a charcoal grey or navy blue suit, as ConchitaWurst said it, most mid-sized towns should have competent tailors.

It is apparent that nowhere in these two pages has anyone volunteered the name of a reasonably priced tailor in Napoli or anywhere else.

I understand why people are not forthcoming with this information but it is f*cking irritating nontheless. Would fly to Naples in an instant if I knew who to go to for <£1000 bespoke. More desktop analice required clearly.

You can actually get quite lucky at a club or bar, but then again I'm used to Miami. I have done that in restaurants and being quite lucky. To be honest, I have been luckiest when I'm dressed the worst for some reason.

That was the idea, I asked so I could get some specific names. Some did pop up, thankfully.

I actually don't understand why someone would withhold such info (privately, I mean), it's not like the tailor would stop making suits for you if he has a new client, but to each his own.

I agree but read. You can contact Granata (1000 euros + 200 for the fabric) or Tofani (1500 fabric included). Good bespoke entrance values on the market. Both in Naples.

Why would anyone not in, or near Naples travel there for a bespoke suit? It seems absurd to me.

You want a bespoke tailor near to where you live, so you can get things done, especially for fittings. Why make your life difficult by having to go to Naples? Surely, Jupiter, living in Italy you realise there are lots of tailors available locally you can use.

I travel a lot to Italy and I am always amazed at the number of good tailors in provincial towns.

So yes, I am asking you, are you up to some shilling mischief?

I just try to help a young man to find a good artisan with my humble and limited knowledge in this area. If Wildblue wants a neapolitan bespoke, the right way is to go to Naples. If he had a local reference, he wouldn't ask advice here. Don't be a silly paranoid.

All good guys, no need to get nipples twisted. I enjoy the discussion both ways. I will check some local tailors in the area during the next weeks. If all else fails then more searching is required.

You are just kidding yourself.

Hi everyone, this is my first post.

I've come over to this forum after hearing about it on SF. I was sick of the hidden shilling agenda that seemed to dominate every thread.

I'm also looking for a reasonably priced tailor in Naples as I head over to Europe quite regularly and it's only a cheap $100 flight to Naples.

I figured I'd give tofani a try but he was quoting me 2000 euros for a suit. Is this the Igent, non Italian speaking price? Was the 1500 quoted above the old price before he gained in popularity?

Granata seems like a good choice. I'm looking in the 1500 euro range for a suit. Trying to avoid the inflated Igent tailor pricing.

2000 euros for Tofani now? I admit I was wrong in recommending him. Say stop to him! He charged 1400 one or two years ago. Concerning Granata, the experience was good but beware: he's a napolitean. We are far from the germanic discipline a nordic european can expect from a business relation. At least he's not a crook. All we've to wait is a financial crisis to ruin all the Igents, and stop this insane inflation process.

They'll charge whatever they think they can get away with. If they get enough business at those prices they'd be stupid not to increase them.

Yes, but you must constantly shill and send out legions of humunculus botnets to keep the online presence up. It starts with an innocent request for advice, the next thing you know, the Naples mafia own your suit and wardrobe. Other people are getting cars, apartments and married, whilst you're still paying for your bespoke clobber.

Of course this inflation process just obeys to a market logic. Igentry is the black hole of the narcissic globalization. We must hope a new dawn of the white civilization will destroy this reign of emptiness and insignificance! White men have the right to dress themselves correctly but at decent prices.

As do those of all races and ethnicities.

Are you sure? Universality is a concept to handle with caution.

This sartorial marxism is great! Who can deny that such a flowing, straight-up-and-down silhouette with rustic hair shirt cloth, yet worn as a baggy macho dress is an aesthetically pleasing form? It quite positively equals anything the genius of Savile Row or the most refined Neopolitan tailoring could come up with.

I am sure the Germans will soon be running adverts with some Bavarian chap exchanging their lederhosen and dancing around in such a dress in a hymn to diversity!

How many Italians are posters on this forum, never mind Neapolitans?

You might as well pm mafoofan (except he probably spends more).

Just get a suit of the peg and have it altered. Save yourself a lot of bother.

Very nice. You can wear it during the day and also in bed.

Very comfortable as anyone who has been a hospital patient will know.

A bit cold in the UK during winter but you can put an orphaned suit jacket on top and pair it with an Afghan hat.

We will all be wearing them soon. Whether we like it or not.

Formby's irritated comment about there being plenty of non-row tailors actually led me to Graham Browne in the City. Reasonably priced, nice chaps, close to work.

Think I will have something from there in the next year or so.
