The SF/AAAC/FNB trainwreck thread

Does this nosy man, who hasn't done anything for TOJ and other issues, have to write a PUT THIS OFF article on every damn SF vendor? The one that I came across and was on Vanda. Die, Chinko.

Thanks for the heads up. I don't want to accuse an innocent man.

There have to be better ways to describe it. Let's not be niggardly with our vocabulary.

I knew this guy. This was 1999, and we're more politically correct than ever.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/local/longterm/williams/williams020499.htm

D.C. Mayor Anthony A. Williams said yesterday that he will rehire a former top aide who resigned last month because some city employees were offended that the aide used the word "niggardly" in describing how he would have to manage a fund's tight budget.

Oh come on. The guy on the right - that's not style, that's cosplay.

JLP III: Best setup man ever!

You sir are a jealous arrogant idiot. PRO TIP come to SD and say things like "That's not style, that's cosplay" around me and the people I know; on my mothers life I could make one phone call and send you back to puberty with your balls cut off and stuffed in your face, later to be found in a ditch on the outskirts of Tijuana by Polica Federal. No joke, have respect for everybody and yourself or deal with the consequences of your actions. That is grown man talk so handle your business accordingly

The sad part is if Tibor threw away that fucking stupid hat, ditched the silly carnation and dumped the briefcase in a street garbage bin - the rest would look OK.
The suit fits pretty well.
The trouble is with his clothing is that there is no context. He's not a bloke who needs to wear a suit and conversely he isn't a bloke who can wear a suit with a certain degree of relaxed carelessness and confidence.

What is wrong with the briefcase?

Just look at Tibor and compare to Roycru.
Roycru wears suits that are over 50+ years old - so does Tibor. But Roycru has been wearing them (really) all his life. The Roycru wears his clothes like he is comfortable in them. Like he wears them everyday. He looks approachable. He looks like he is amused. Like he even understands irony. Non of his outfits are overly fussy. His trousers are great when he's seated but bloody strange when he is walking or standing. But it all works with him. He wears a jaunty bow tie - not because he found one in a charity shop and needs to stand out in a crowd because he is insecure but because he has probably 20 or so bow ties and long ago decided they suit him and he likes them and he feels jaunty.
Tibor looks like he needs to be noticed. His dress emphasises his boyishness at the same time it appears as if he is striving to look anything but boyish.

I don't know what they were doing but I guess The Jimmy Cagney wannabe was meeting up with Roy for lunch while on a break in Roy's town. Now maybe I'm very wrong and Edward G Robinson was indeed presenting a proposal to a board of a multinational company who still think its 1948 and he needed that briefcase to hold the papers he was using and /or the brushes he's selling. But I doubt it.

He probably carries a sandwich and a banana in that briefcase. Or he's trafficking for his dangerous buddies in Tijuana.

Given UrbanConsumptions massive success with Sicilian tailors, the Sicilians are coming to the USA via a kickstarter campaign.

Top top RTW SF igents - Like JustinKapur- are now trying to beg for tissue to get in line for bespoke.

https://www.styleforum.net/threads/...rmission-of-la-guy.546247/page-2#post-8874369

  • $250 for bespoke pants
  • $1,250 for a bespoke jacket
The bespoke items are premised on cut-make-trim (CMT) meaning you source and supply the cloth to us.

Sicilian tailoring constitutes a third school of bespoke tailoring distinct from the two other well-known options - Savile Row and Naples. In a nutshell, Savile Row embodies sobriety and discretion in a jacket while Naples embodies exuberance (i.e. less structure). As a matter of attitude, Sicilian tailoring is more reserved than Naples but “smiles” a bit more than London. The result is a subtly different shape and silhouette of the Sicilian jacket and pants compared to their more familiar counterparts.

What accounts for these subtle nuances? Every single Sicilian tailor I have met is rooted in a specific place. Place grounds and integrates the tailor and his workshop. Place becomes inseparable from craft. This convergence of place and craft also helps paints a clear picture of what you’re wearing and why.

At least it helped me and I suspect this authenticity appeals to others as well.

Because they are very localized and less known, Sicilian tailors also create a rarer product than London and Naples in terms of production output. The difference is an order of magnitude or more - hundreds as opposed to tens of thousands of suits per year.

Sicilian Reserve is trying to do something truly different from the bespoke norm. We are trying to offer affordability, preserve rarity and ensure continuity as long as it remains possible.

Tissue lengths are causing consternation amongst members not believing that jackets etc. can be cut from such tissue lengths

Your height - up to 5’7”
  • Sports jacket = 1.75 yards (1.6 meters)
  • Trousers = 1.3 yards (1.2 meters)
  • 2 piece suit = 3.2 yards (2.9 meters) includes extra cloth budgeted for complex patterns, self-lining or other requests
Your height - up to 5’11”
  • Sports jacket = 1.9 yards (1.7 meters)
  • Trousers = 1.3 yards (1.2 meters)
  • 2 piece suit = 3.3 yards (3.0 meters) includes extra cloth budgeted for complex patterns, self-lining or other requests

It's not just the height they should worry about. American men are real men, and in particular the non-elite ones tend to have some extra junk in the trunk...
