the mega load of vintage W Bill shetland and other treats, 20 cloths in total (to be divided between me and ConchitaWurst ConchitaWurst ), purchased for 100 GBP TOTAL !!! I picked it up today at a secluded farm house (3 hour drive each way) from an antique dealer who had originally purchased the lot as part of an estate and didn't know what to do with it. Pictures to follow. This one is a MONSTER. Stay tuned ...

They are all so beautiful and tasteful. . . Practically, all the bases are covered. Hell, you can build an entire wardrobe from scratch -- not that you need that!

this one inst really tasteful tbh

luckily its a FriendCustomer FriendCustomer pick

also most of these to me look quite difficult to wear. the houndstooth in the middle is burgundy. its cashmere. and only 1.5 meters

still there are some 12-15 very good ones in the pile

To say that my taste is questionable would be an understatement. Still, I think those would make great sport coats, but I obviously haven't the slightest idea about the weights and measurements. Otherwise, what is wrong with cashmere?

the cashmere is surely the best in that pile. but can only be made up into a waistcoat. unless youre using sandymans magic tailor

Rubbish, is that guy a Hobbit?

A suit length (2-piece) for the typical guy(average build) is about 3.2m (3.5 yards)

Jacket 2m, Trou 1.2m.

You may need slightly more for patterned or cloths that must be cut one way (cashmere, cord, velvet &c)

we need post like sandymans to keep hope alive

True, he should get a course by Arnathor Arnathor .
Not that much into the larger patterns and window panes. But the smaller checks and houndstooths are spot on for me.

its fake vintage. not the old world spongy shetland. pattern and colours are great though

True it's new w bill Shetland. Good enough but not nearly as good quality as the vintage w bill Shetland. Also I can confirm that the London Lounge Shetland is better than the new w bill quality wise (but Alden's patterns, colors and price are not nearly as good). When I find a vintage navy Shetland with a dark cream windowpane maybe I'll sell you my new one.

Finally did you see the dormeuil cloths? All vintage never to be seen again. The grey flannel with top molting is 19oz. And forget about the sportex or dormysport, NO ONE is making fabric like this today, NO ONE. :fadancing:

olo yes i saw them. at 19oz the flannel will be perfect as a three piece winter suit according to alden and michael ay329. alternatively it will make a nice two piece double breasted suit for the dubai fall according to okey onyegbule.

ymmv

grats.

ConchitaWurst ConchitaWurst - what's that shirting fabric on the top of the pile, with what looks like yellow and blue stripes?

I've been looking for a replacement for a shirt for a while, and that looks quite similar.

It's a Dashing tweed cloth with reflective threads from 3M woven into it.
The reflective stripes are in the weft, so that had to be our new grain line. Pain in the arse to match the original pattern.

You guys only have to look at the pictures. I have to work with that tissue. I could be wrong, but I think the wool fibres have been lubricated to allow the mix with the plastic fibres. It has a greasy feel and leaves a film on the sole of the iron.
In this one the reflective stuff is not too bad to sew, but it can ruin the edges of shears/ scissors and machine needles.
why are you working with this in the first place? you have a particularly well-off crossing guard as a client?
