Hi boys! (Everything has been tidied up as a result of The Right Honourable Lord Buckley’s remonstrations, though “Western civilization” may hardly be saved in a bathroom—not even in a bathroom that would be welcoming to Jupiter Jupiter ’s kind.)

You know, I might be wanting to get a waxed jacket after all. That one looks nice viaattovannucci viaattovannucci .
Yesterday I tried on a size 50 Beaufort and it happens to fit, was a bit too much money though, even on sale.

Bedale is a good choice. Barbour classic line is always a good choice. See how it improves amazingly the otherwise mediocre outfit (dark blue button down shirt with a brown floorcloth) of viaattovannucci viaattovannucci . He almost looks good. Just avoid the vicinity of Pitti.

rdiaz rdiaz , try UK eBay. I have a Bedale and Border from there, both with many years on their shoulders but still excellent. They'really easy to clean and rewax yourself. I find myself wearing the Border almost every day. The older ones have a thicker cotton and wider wale collar, which I prefer, plus a slightly nicer lining tartan - the same as Via has above, I think.

Yes! That’s where I’ve bought mine as well. It’s a ‘91 Beaufort with the older “Dress Gordon” tartan (you can check the year from the number on the back of the white tag that specifies model and size—the first two digits).

Supposedly, in the early ‘90s, they’ve felt the need to change the lining to something Barbour exclusive. You know how these things work. . .

Aha, mine is also a '91 - thanks, I didn't know I could check there! This jacket is then a couple of months older than I am...

Quite a popular kilt choice, the Gordon, though I find the yellow a little much.

Bedale, with the snap-open side vents, should work fine for gender-ambiguous types with “prominent backsides.”

You're just a pup!

Beaufort may well be the more common one to find on eBay UK. You should be able to get one for less than 50 pounds. Get the traditional olive green for your first one (or the only one in your wardrobe). Not only is it “the Classic,” it’ll also come distressed, pre-loved to a wonderful patina (which is arguably the better look with the color turning to a shade resembling military fatigues). In any case, you can hold off reproofing a little longer than other colors, I find.

And as M MES has already pointed out, the Beaufort’s poachers‘ pocket is a boon! With all that, you don’t need a carry-on if you’re wearing this jacket to a flight!

Thanks. I edited though, it was a Beaufort!

Beaufort is longer so if you want you can wear it over your plaid giaccas with 19cm tablecloth ties! It does not have the knit storm cuffs but you don't need that in Spain.

Beaufort also has the the poacher pockets which the Bedale does not, you can stuff the tissue you buy in them when you come back from the Correiros

Would need a larger size for that I guess. Though the pit to pit measurement on the 52 inch seems way too huge for me.

BTW WTF is a correiros?

The chest tolerance in the older jackets is 10 inches or so.

Sorry, reverting to my hillbilly Bolivian Spanish. It is way they referred to the post office as
