What Are You Wearing Today?

What are you going on about son? I just don’t consider Yorkshire wool, as the appropriate ingredient to make Shetland tweed. But my opinion matters fuckall, like you said everything is permitted. I also find that once tweed starts getting lighter than 12/13 oz it starts losing many of the characteristics which I associate with tweed. Ymmv.

Your opinion on weight of tweed is your opinion and personal preference. I am not going to argue against personal preference. We all have it.

But unless you are an authorising agent giving an authority approval on what constitutes the designation of Tweed, you're just another internet gobshite, as I am. So yes, your opinion is just that.

Get use to it. Join the club.

My opinions on tweed only inform the lengths of tweed I purchase. I also try to share my knowledge and experience with cloth for those who are interested. I am very used to it being ignored (by relativists, globalism apologists, GQ modern types and other fans of mediocrity) and the defensive and sometimes hostile reactions that it creates.

Yes, and your experience is valid. But your position was that Yorkshire mill Shetland tweed was somehow not worthy as it wasn't guaranteed under something similar to the Harris Tweed Act.

Harris tweed is as rough as a bears arse and isn't that interesting to anyone.

A tweed jacket in a lighter weight appeals to those who want to wear it in warmer weather, or just live in a hotter climate. Nothing wrong with that. The Alfred Moon fabrics for Marks and Spencer are perfectly acceptable too.

That said, some people do still find Harris tweed ‘interesting’. It does not stink unless you have unearthed a vintage pipe smokers jacket that has never been cleaned.

It's Shetland, you can't see from the lens of my iPhone, it's rough, ragged and has that Scottish island texture.

Harris Tweed is, as you well know, is rough and ready and had it's peak back in 1967.

So the Shetland style tweed you purchased from Cordings made from Yorkshire wool is “rough, ragged and has that Scottish Island texture”

While Harris tweed is “rough and ready”.

Keep talking out of your ass.

I must have been wearing them vintage ones all along!

You can't dry clean Harris Tweed can you?

I do believe I have more authority on this than you. So no need to get angry.

Shetland is a breed of sheep. Doesn't matter where the sheep are reared, if the wool comes from Sheltand sheep its Shetland.

Like your special collection of famous African fetish ties from Turnbull & Asser.

Remember that? You promised to post, but we only got some ebay example. Repeated

You've been back from that business trip for sometime.

Where are the examples?

I wore and posted at Shetland tweed jacket yesterday. Go through this thread and the cloth thread, a lot of it’s there.

I saw that, it was a photo. I am going to do the same tomorrow...respect.

So I am going to reveal my bespoke tweed credentials.

I am coming out punching tomorrow, and if needed the next day and the next....

And the next day....

It can continue indefinitely.
