Stop polluting this thread with your filthy beggar outfits. Our friend Pauly already occupies this niche. This a gentlemen forum. On my mothers life I could make one phone call and send you back to puberty with your balls cut off and stuffed in your face, later to be found in a ditch on the outskirts of Tijuana by Policia Federal. No joke, have respect for everybody and yourself or deal with the consequences of your actions. That is grown man talk so handle your business accordingly.

Dubious because I'm not sure if I like it or not in that context. Is it a Passaggio tie, too? I honestly have no idea. Must be that the SF spirit is still all over me and I dislike certain kinds of tie. And yes, in blue I'd probably like it.

You think I'm a sock? Really?

Your shirt tastes are so British. Not sure if I like it or not...

Traditional English shirt styles do not travel well to other jacket and tie wearing nations. The USA for instance. They're more central to the English look and you can only really go full-on peacock English shirting if you can abide by the gentlemanly art of clash and contrast, whilst keeping it darker with primary coloured chunky neckties and motifs.

The jacket cloth will become a side event and you won't want to be as flamboyant as elsewhere.

dubious because ConchitaWurst ConchitaWurst wore the same in blue just a few days ago? perhaps ConchitaWurst ConchitaWurst will even wear this green version too. all pointing to a very sock like scenario. be on guard with these trolls of distinction and watch out for over 18 stuff in the mail.

Yes, there's definitely some tie sharing memes going on. I drew quite a different conclusion to sock puppets though. One does hope that there won't be a repeat of all this over 18 stuff and malarkey.

Not at all. Maybe it was made in the secondary workshop, so its only a half-true crappelli. It's definately thirsty.

Those are Cappelli outlet ties?
That doesn't make them less ugly, but I'm of course still a fan of Patrizio. Wish I had the money to go back there for some more ties.

Some good prices on the website Outlet section, but how do they compare to say, Drakes? Well, they're certainly more cost effective...

They're well made. At least mine are, but they are standard 3-fold. I don't find them any worse than Drake's.

He carries a lot of printed silks (Macclesfield, madder and challis) but he's also got regimentals, grenadines, cashmere, knits... not sure there are many of those in the outlet section though.

Thanks, I should have stated I was referring to the Outlet section.

im somewhat bashful posting in this thread because im well below most of your leagues. a lot of it's because im still a beginner, wasted a lot of money on cheap shit i dont wear and student loans, and live/work in the midwest united states, meaning simply not being a fat fuck* wearing a faded golf polo with a corporate sponsor means i stand out.

*as you'll see below tho, im well aware i have 15 lbs** to lose...on an rx that promotes weight gain, it'll come off eventually
**pounds...that's right

i lurked for a long ass time, and you guys have taught me so much about this stuff, i legit appreciate it. so this isn't showing off a great fit or any really nice pieces...more looking for feedback and advice.

shirt is cream, socks are navy. ive posted this suitsupply suit a few times. this is from a fundraiser last night that the trio i play bass in was hired to play. i was going to have an instrument strap holding a 12 lb. (USA! USA! USA!) bass up for 3+ hours and didnt want to give the jackets i wear frequently that kind of abuse. i bought it as a beater suit because the nice suit my grandfather got me for a birthday gift (local MTM made in house...dark gray, VBC) had wine spilt on it at a wedding and i spent the $300 the manager gave me on an ounce of weed and some other stuff, like an idiot.

imo, the biggest issue is the sleeves more than my belly. i needed it for a wedding and didn't have time to return it. suitsupply's online measurements sucked...im a bigger dude and i knew i was a 46L. fucking knew it. their thing said id be fine with a 46R. had my tailor take the armholes up as much as possible and lengthen the sleeves as much as she could...funny thing is, it was actually a good thing last night since the cuffs never messed with my hands.

actually kinda like wearing the suit. fabric's ok. feels nice to wear. i think it looks ok, like 6.5/10? obviously would look better if i were the 15 lbs. lighter like it's tailored for, and the sleeves weren't fucked.

question is...i wear suits probably 20x year. do i spend $1k+ on a nice MTM or get another beater suitsupply in 46L? and wait to get something bespoke when my income jumps up? i think my grandpa's suit can't be redeemed...but the tailor still has the same $700 MTM program. maybe that'd be a good stopgap?

looking to spend $600-1k. plain fabrics...navy (this gray beater suit is fine for the US)...any recommendations would be appreciated. sleeves are kind of an issue since i have pretty long arms. be as critical as you like, im looking to improve. last note...i like my igent oxblood tassel loafers and they're so damn comfy.

I feel rather like I'm bringing a knife to a gun fight, but I'll persevere...

I deleted a whole bunch of stuff about Kant and others, but I'm getting way out of my depth. I'llcheat and try to turn the question around. I'm curious as to why you perceive your opinions to have some validity outside of your own frame of reference? Why do you think your opinion (ortaste or judgement) has a validity that is separate from you? I've seen several claims and examples indicating that you think so, but show me something that we've mentioned in thisthread that can be measured without reference to the person doing the measuring.

This is not intended by me to be an attack on you at all. But I think I've fairly characterized your position on subjectivity and objectivity and on a theoretical level I disagree entirely. I'm not sure how to construct an argument that demonstrates that I am right and you are wrong except to fall back on what I believe to be the definitions of the concepts. The definition of subjectiveness is something like that which is held to be true by an observer and that truth has no existence independently. Objectiveness is that which is true without reference to an observer. I like to reduce it to that which cannot be measured versus that which can. You can measure the length of a fellow's trousers, but you cannot measure whether the trousers are too long. That requires a judgement and a judgment is an opinion that cannot be
measured.

On a serious note, I do like the shoulder. I like sleeves to fall straight from the shoulder point rather than falling in an egg shape. That requires extended shoulders and I prefer the natural shape in that case. I don't think it's bad tailoring, as the fit is still correct. Padding is good when there would be hollow areas due to physique, but I hate when it's used to build up sloping or curved shoulders, I'd rather have the slope than a boxy jacket.

That said, I like the shoulder on the arm that is not holding the phone, the other looks too collapsed but I guess it's the pose.

Collapsing shoulder... Master Oreo loves super extended shoulders or is it you? Top sleeve length. Bello piumbo di pantaloni.

That's my experience. I'm not a fan of extended shoulders beforehand myself, but I think they favour my physique. If you have narrow shoulders and wide hips the only way to avoid divots on the sleeves is making extended shoulders. Otherwise I can't see how sleeves could fall straight.

Actually, a lot of bespoke has what most would consider "extended" shoulders. The tendency I see on RTW wearers and "gurus" that tell you how a suit should fit is too narrow shoulders and deltoids protruding on sleeve heads, I don't think that's how it should be.
