What Are You Wearing Today?

I put that forward just to show that even with travel bespoke can easily be half of what you quote for London, that's all.

My apologies if you misunderstood me. I'd love to find some good bespoke for 1500 including travel. I was simply trying to pick your brain about the costs. Like I said, please tell me if I did the math wrong. What tailors did you have in mind, and around what prices do they offer bespoke?

1500 quid or 1500 euros? the example above with your calculated travel costs (in pounds) works out to about 1300 pounds. That is based on 1000 euros for the suit.

As for tailors, other Euromembers could provide more concrete suggestions. I have my stuff done in Canada.

Thanks, 1300 pounds sounds better. I could even have the trousers made by luxire, and the jackets by a tailor, would save me a couple hundred. I looked at Napoli Su Misura, but they charge around 2000 euros for a suit, which is a bit much.

many decent no name italian tailors do bespoke for around € 1k cmt. some -mainly in the south- charge even less. they primarily cater to local lawyers, doctors, business men. you would generally need two fittings for your first suit. in many cases one forward fitting for next orders is sufficient. one of my tailors is in northern italy, quite close to bergamo and the milanese airports. flights are quite affordable. you can fly in and out the same day. he even visited a spanish acquintance that recently started using him for his first fitting at his home in madrid w/o charging extra.

Renember what Sarto says, the good old tailors are unknown to iGents because they have not been hyped. He might be whacko but might be able to help if he is well controlled at the time of contact.

I would also think that LKP LKP and ConchitaWurst ConchitaWurst might have suggestions if you PM'd them.

Thank you for that information. Would you be so kind to PM me his name and perhaps a picture of his work? I can assure you it'll remain private. I understand if you wish to refrain from this though. Knowing bespoke is more affordable than what can be seen on SF is valuable information.

Thanks!

sure. just sent you a pm.

if you stay for a long weekend (early thu - sun) you could easily do three fittings in case you announce your plans beforehand so he can plan your visit

Monkeyface Monkeyface You can definitely do better than e100 for a flight and 75 for a hotel without even batting an eyelash. Just a quick search on Ryanair found flights for $45-50 to several places in Italy.

I don't fly with rynair anymore. Awful customer service and the worst safety record. Almost missed a flight once even though I was 2 hours in advance at the airport, and I have a pilot in the family who refuses to fly with them due to their safety record. I searched as well, and for the times I would fly (depart and return late in the evening so I don't have to many take days off) it's around 75-100 gbp.

Anyway, it doesn't really matter. Time being money and all that, I'd rather pay 25 quid more for a flight than having to take a day off, which costs me much more. Seeing as CW's tailor is actually in a nice location, I might just make a 3 day holiday out of it and take my GF along!

you can even spend 12 hours watching the old tayloreze work at the sartoria and joking about you like doughface did.

We are a helpful bunch because we don't spend all our time thinking up crazy-ass MTO shoe creations or measuring photos to see if a suit coat is 0.15 cm too long or too short.

Do you realize how much time that saves!!!

Lol, I still can't believe he actually did that. Why not go out and explore the town, go for a nice lunch, get drunk from some nice eyetalian wine, whatever. Anything other than watching someone poor fellow make a suit for you like an overbearing boss.

or inspecting the tailor's button hole skills (the hallmark of truebespoke, olololol; forget about fit --> first inspect button holes)

Monkeyface Monkeyface , SF is an unusual place. You can pick up good tidbits of information if you look for it. But you also have to realize it cuts a very narrow swath when it comes to bespoke makers. The usual suspects are there because they have historical provenance such as Savile Row tailors. Other are those that have marketed themselves either directly or indirectly or that members have had experience with. But it is a big world. There are a lot of members who do not speak of their tailors and there are many others who do good work that are off the radar because they have not been outed or their clientele are local people.

IGents do not know all

Nobody likes to have someone looking over their shoulder when they work especially an American Asian doughboy and his lady wife. But maybe he took a page out of Foo's book and wanted to be in the back room just in case he could intercede if something went awry. Remember, bespoke tailoring is a collaborative process.

TRIGGER WARNING

I was going to say something, but I'm waiting for more people who have never worked with Rubinacci to tell me more about how Rubinacci works.

Actually, I've been in the kitchen many times. Had pictures and info all over my blog. In fact, once I watched my own suits getting made over a weekend on a rush basis.

But please, carry on with your assumptions.

January 20th -

Went in the morning and spent about 2-3 hours watching Mimmo do some finishing touches on the jacket and the trousers.

The wife and I ended up spending about 10 hours just hanging out with Mimmo at his sartoria, drinking espressos, just watching them work.

It is not shilling unless Sarto can find it on a ghey Spanisb blog or on Craptom's blog

On Friday I released a third book and yesterday it reached the best seller tag.

My school asked me for a pic to post a success story. Yesterday I released a fourth one as a coauthor and today we will make it a best seller.
