However, surprised you are travelling by air and subjecting yourself to all that radiation by scanners, the plane et al ( not to mention a spot of sexual palpation)

Thought you'd pedal all the way to your destination?

Before he moved to Melbourne, he worked at Qld Uni and our kids went to the same kindergarten. We used to regularly go over to his place for Friday-night pizza and wine. I've never met a person who is more excited about bacteria - Scott could wax lyrical for hours about how the Wolbachia bacteria can be used to prevent disease transmission when introduced into Aedes Aegypti populations. A fascinating project with the potential to save huge numbers of lives at low cost.

How long did you say he’s been working on this? 20 years?? Any sign of a solution? I guess if he solves it the grant funding would dry up...

I spend 2 hours yesterday using 2017 actuals to project 2018 capacity. I get to work thinking my peers and boss simply want to do a cross check of basic math only to find there were some behind the scenes decisions made to tell some story in the 2018 plan. Why not just tell me or override my stuff than ask for my input?

At one point my boss asked me to move numbers around that completely negated my case on adding net new people.
 
Mother's flight delayed three hours already so have to postpone turkey meal for tomorrow.

That's like a big chicken. Well - the positive note is the delay only means folks have tucked into their final Thanksgiving destinations so the congestion should be tolerable.

so about a year ago the oven fan stopped working during the bake cycle, which with my piece of shit samsung, means that the temperatures never maintained properly in the oven. i had repaired it with a new control board but it reared its ugly head today. i had to use convection, which really wasn't seemingly working properly either, and then some of the stove top burners weren't working properly. it took me roughly 2 hours to get the gravy down to a good consistency.

Knowing all that you still attempted Thanksgiving? Isn't that like knowing your car is on its last legs and taking the risk to drive it for a road trip vacation?

I have a Samsung washer/dryer stacked combo. Now I'm scared.

well i didn't find it out until part way through preparation at about 4am. i had hoped it was a temporary thing or something else. plus i had a large amount of prep work done and the naked turkey dry brining in the fridge.

its more like knowing your car is about to die and trying to drive your pregnant girlfriend to the hospital because her water just broke.

be afraid. the absolute worst reliability and customer service.
 
I discovered just how lethal Dainite is on ice. Even worse on the icy cobbled parts.

Then I almost fell backwards standing up on the bus, with its aisle full of melting slush.

I have slipped arse over tit on wooden deck in winter in dainite. Plus I find it hard underfoot compared to leather.
 
Speaking of slipping etc I just bruised some rib or something on the right. I don't see any bruises, nor is there is anything sticking out. Good thing I have laryngitis so when I cough it gives me a horrendous pain fit.

Alcohol does not seem to be effective at numbing the pain. I probably have too high of a tolerance. Five sazeracs in and I can still feel it. I tried some codeine this morning and it seemed to numb it much better than five sazeracs.

Turned down two Christmas parties for this Monday alone.
 
My use of Samsung is a matter of Hobson's choice. My landlord furnishes the appliances and it is what I inherited.

yea...i bought a home as a future investment rental property (duplex). using those samsung now with full intent of moving them into the rental unit next year. gotta get a gas line run up to my apt for a new range before buying those new appliances. def won't be samsung tho, ill tell you that much.
 
I'm a Loewe man myself for ultimate widescreen resolution, Naim in the h-fi stakes with a Bluesound Vault 2 for back-up and Grado for headphones. All the rest is the missus's and mother-law's domain, I don't/daren't get involved in that stuff. All I know it's German.
