Try this - next time you get an alert, click through to the alert, and read all the way through to the end. What may be happening is if you don't respond to the alert by clicking on it, the system doesn't register that you've actually read the alert, so it doesn't think you have to be alerted again.

Alerts seems to be doing pretty well on my end. I've subscribed to the SF train wreck thread and have been getting all of the reply alerts.

Try that for me and see what happens. Only on the watched threads. The quotes and tags don't need to be clicked through if you don't want to bother.

Browser and OS? Do you have any addons no noscript or any element blocking from adblock?

Hmmm. I'll test it out on Safari myself. Does it happen when you go to the More Options reply as well or just in the quick reply?

Depending on the addon, AdBlockers can also block certain page elements and functions like Twitter/Facebook/etc.. Those can sometimes break functionality but it would be a stretch on this site since we really don't use much or any of that.

Try turning the adblocker, then replying for a bit. Then try whitelisting the site and reply for a bit, just to see if its the addon.

My adblocker was off, just turned it on, still jumping to top. Don't know how to whitelist.
