Agreeable Menswear Post Of The Day

someone chimed in. will this end good?

dude will suffer inhuman pain on his left foot in due time.

actually, well deserved. blindly brand whoring shouldn't be gratified, imo

the creasing and where they start flexing gives it away. at this price point of 1k quid, there should be more attention to a careful fitting. igents just don't believe in this. its like bringing owls to athens ...

don't like loafers but as loafers go, this are quite pleasing to my eye

This guy should do faceless photos. His tiny features and fivehead above the beanpole frame are a major distraction. Anyway, I really hate the elbow patches. Why such a light color? Why so high on the arm? I'm hoping it's the pose that is causing the skirt out flare out so much. The fit at the neck and shoulders is great though.

He isn't as bad as the one albino guy in the weird fashiony get up. That guy pretty much had a six, or even seven, head.

Dunno. found those pochette shots by accident. was actually trying to find a pack of smokes in a pant cuff to justify the button

No idea where Foo got the thistles idea from, but yes, it's so that you can clean dust/fluff/dirt out of your cuffs easily.

I know that Signore Ambrosi does it for his $1200 pents.

I've had it done on OTR pants that cost far, far, far less that I've bought from Japanese department stores. I went to the counter to pay for the trousers and I was asked if I wanted them to alter the length for me. When I asked for a cuff, the assistant asked if I'd like buttons. I said, "Really?" and he explained that their seamstress would sew a button on to the cuff turn-up and then cut and sew a buttonhole on the leg. The cuffing was free, but the buttonhole cost an extra $10.

It seems to me it would be harder to dump out this way. I must be missing something.

Well, you have to unbutton that's for sure but you and completely roll down the cuff to get thistles, lint, ashes out. If you are anal retentive you know there will always be a bit of dirt where the cuff is stitched to the pant seam

I dunno, mine seem to empty out pretty easily. Seems good for Foo to obsess over and invent reasons for though. I give him points for creativity for the thistle bit, because we all know he isn't romping in thistles.

Easy for you to say because you are not an anal retentive, under-achieving, failure with undue expectations trying to compensate for being undersized and big hedaded showing everyone your bespoke miscreations and then lamenting when all of the atoms don't align properly under electron microscopy.

I've have never seen you post "I have a dust in my Rolex" (not Foo but someone equally or even more obsessive said that)

True, I probably have half a chicken parm sandwich in my cuffs for all I know.

and you will survive when your car breaks down in the middle of nowhere when all that Foo can do is strum his Gibson sadly as the vultures slowly circle

Tacky, pointy, effeminate unshoes.

That's hot! Are the pant's cuffs flared out? There's something different about the sleeve attachment there. Boots?
I see problems with sleeve torque, the jackets to long, the gorge is weird and the buttoning point too high, his trouser cuffs are too wide and the material is not business appropriate. Sleeves are too long and too wide and floppy. To top it off he has some weird tie arrangement going on and white shirt is inappropriate with the suiting.

Clearly this guy isn't going anywhere.

Who is the non-sock wearer?

I wonder if he wears shoe-liner/nonvisible socks or bare. I would not wear leather shoes bare feet.

I have a postcard of this photo on my fridge, having visited an Edison museum. Sadly it is oversaturated and lacks the contrast of this digital photo. I wish we had some historical fellow that could give an opinion as to whether this was sharp dressing for the day or if this was schlubby Dilbert style, the late nineteenth century Steve Jobs.
I'm assuming this is a sack suit! Good lapel roll.

I think he "works" at the Armoury NYC.

I like everything about that combination except the absence of socks. It's winter. In New York. And he's wearing a flannel db jacket and heavy cream pants. But no socks. With heavy brogues.

For the love of fuck - WHY?

Despite the quality of the components, the overall effect is very try hard, and that's what makes it so disagreeable to me. It's sacrilegious and not in a good way.

The more I see that photo, the more I dislike it. The light cream trousers/socks combo is throwing me off completely.

Even if the wide hems weren't common, strange to analogize Edison's fit 'divergence' from CM, regardless of time, to Job's divergence from a modern suit. I collect pre-war concert discs and seen many photos of praised singers dressed quite avante garde (not referring to opera costumes) that's substantially more divergent than this Edison. Diversity in style and fashion was much more common then than it is today in my opinion.

heavy cream pants.
I'm curious how you're ascertaining the weight. The cuffs? The rippling on the inner right thigh doesn't make things look that heavy.

Indeed, homogenization occurred when RTW took hold, and even moreso today with the lessened number of smaller factories and preponderance of larger ones.
I am very curious though, as Edison was as much a slick promoter as an inventor, to know if he was a snazzy dresser of the day, or the typically unfashionable genius.
Tesla was the dandy of the two

The unfolded collar with tie on the outside was very common and probably advantageous from a body heat regulation perspective in warmer weather.

My image search is yielding too much stuff like this:
250px-Thomas_Edison2.jpg

loose vest, zero lapel roll and it's flopped over.

For God's sake, this suit needs a pressing. Sleeve length is iffy too.

So you may be right.
