Agreeable Menswear Post Of The Day

EFV goes to Pitti (picture thread) - Page 8

We all hope you're right Monkface but Pitti seems too narcissistic to not show ankles.

Mark my words. I was right about the pleats and high waists, while everyone said I was crazy. Pitti is all about standing out and doing new things, and if literally everyone is going sockless with short trousers, you'll start seeing an anti-movement, and in 2 years time socks will be 'mainstream' again.

You can say what you want about Pitti, but it does influence what menswear buyers put on their lists, which ultimately influences what we can buy RTW (for the non-bespoke bigtimers that is). Short, low and skinny is on its way out, and it's about time.

It's a typical savile row cut. Just not popular in the blogosphere at the moment

George Lazenby wearing one in the 60s

That's just a hard three. It looks very nice, but I'm sure he'd be able to button the top two buttons comfortably if he so chooses. No Savile Row tailor will make a jacket too tight in the chest on purpose. Lazenby's jacket has quite a swelled chest, while David Reeves' jacket is simply too tight for him.

David Reeves should apologize to the Royal Guild of Savile Row tailors if such an organization exist. His cloths are a mess

Again, worse is the masonic Club del Sastre Español where the boss, the one with witch nails and jackets with bagsbelow the armhole Calvo de Mora ( shilled by Crap-tom and the arstocrat) who self says he beats Naples or Savile.

If you think this Reeves is bad, wait to see those, simply the worst in the world.

re: NMWA and something MF mentioned

I like and respect gdl (as a poster and generally how he dresses). I'll get ties and squares from NMWA, though that's the extent of it. But he's done a pretty nice job building that business. I'm not speaking to the NMWA hype, but the way he's managed to build it and/or encourage it is impressive from a business standpoint. He's offering a variety of styles from a variety of places, and that's always a good thing. Again, not speaking of those blindly buying everything NMWA, but if you were gdl, would you tell them to stop or do what you can to keep up the frenzy?

I push* a lot of brands that I like on the Good Natured Advice Thread. I generally consider the balance of price vs quality when I do, and often people asking for rec's aren't looking to spend 1500 on a jacket (more like 5-600) or need to fill a lot of holes quickly (in which case, again, not looking for a 1500 jacket). And while NMWA has some nice jackets on sale around 800 sometimes, they rarely are the staples that I generally recommend.

In the last year or so, I've had three members, none affiliated with NMWA, ask me why I don't own any Formosa jackets (I don't recall if I've mentioned this here or just in conversation with Rambo). It's an unusual question. I think only one person didn't accept my answer (which was "they're very nice, but they don't really, really speak to me, and at that price, I have other options available" and to which he responded that I was crazy, they are amazing, and seriously, quit trying to be a hipster about shit and buy one I won't regret it).

* I've never received anything free from any of the brands that I regularly encourage others to buy. Though HenryC HenryC once sent me a dead fish. I have gotten free stuff for review or just to wear, and if they were good enough, I probably would have no qualms recommending them, but they've never been good enough to recommend over better options.

I also admire how he has done his shop from scratch, only that he is on the right city for it.

Imagine the same in Spain with all the lumpen tackys and low cost wannabes from unbuttoned salva forum. Even a single pochette would be sold.

Who bribed you? Must confess lol

Most recently? David Fin and Mauro. Though not really Mauro. I think he realized that he rushed into the CM game a bit hastily and ended up not sending me my "bribe" (a tie to review and/or just wear). One of the things I really respect about Mauro is that I don't think he sees anything beyond quality. I suspect his thought process was something like "I make high quality clothing. CM people often buy high quality clothing. This is a match made in heaven."

Yeah, I don't have anything against gdl. Seems like a nice guy with a good business. I do have something against the narrow mindedness of many folks on SF, with the people that messaged you about Formosa being a very good example of that behaviour.

Nice pants on mr. ascot. What is with the retarded round glasses, I think they only look good on women and that is because women are very fuckable.

On the first look, this can easily pass as agreeable. But upon closer examination, a few areas, IMO, should be disagreeable:

1: Ascot under the shirt as he is heading to a S&M party
2: 3-2 roll looks really odd with this pattern. Simple 2 button should suffice
3. Hack pockets horrible choice with the jacket.

Sprezz. Other than the way he wears his tie, and the love button on its back, the ensemble is nice.

I don't like to see young kids in old mens clothes no matter how well tailored.Plenty of time for that later. Teenagers should be hip and in fashion if well dressed.

When do we stop being young kids? After our first gray pubic hair? Seems like a good cut off. Maybe a tad conservative.

The guy is probably in the mid-20s. Possible that he has had a job requiring a tie. Probably doesn't require close up head shots with sunglasses on in the evening though.

always sugared, cant tell

The guy in the sunglasses, while I think the 'rig' looks good, that lighting for the photo is fucking kick ass. Wish he'd remove the specs.

Its more that he has such a baby face. Navy blue and a baby face is a bad combination. It accentuates the baby face.
