The same could be said about Oliver Reed, but nobody held that against him.
That’s because if anybody said that about Oliver Reed a punch up would ensue.

IIRC, James Bond wears suits only on a few occasions in his films. Mostly when meeting M and/ or at social events. Most of the time he wears more casual/ stealth/ combat related garments, diving/ swimming gear or nothing at all.
The suit part is only a big thing because it's kind of disappearing in our days.
What about Brosnan's boxy-cut Brionis?
It was also the silhouette back in the days. And the franchise was less about car and clothing brands in the early days (with the exception of Aston-Martin, maybe). I don't think Brioni got as much out of it as Tom Ford did marketing wise. That was the 1990s and the early 2000s, the days before social media when no one knew anything about sartorialism. We were so easily impressed back then. Or we just didn't care about suits and things.

Good old Ollie, they don't make them like that anymore.
You couldn't make 'em like that even if you wanted to. There's a long interview with Richard E. Grant somewhere, where he goes into some detail about this. With today's enormously high movie budgets and actors' salaries, missing a shoot, or turning up late or hungover would be disastrous. And even if you managed to do the acting bits, you can't fool HD cameras when you've just spent a night on the lash.
Of course today's actors do all of the Ollie Reed stuff in between movies, but it's not a daily, regular thing, like it was with Ollie and Richard Burton, Peter O'Toole, and the rest of their generation. And if anything it tends to be cocaine these days. Much cleaner, and makes you look like a demigod because of the fat loss (supermodels live on the stuff). Or designer drugs.
Wonderful world, the film industry.
Aye cos getting absolutely pissed out of your skull on a nightly basis and kicking off with all and sundry is definitely something to be admired and sadly lacking in the youth of today eh? Get up there!
Sorry - the reverence held by some for loud obnoxious alcoholics has always baffled the shit out of me. As for those mentioned, can’t help thinking what their careers might have been like if they’d know how to handle the bottle. David Hemings was a teen idol type in Blow Up. Did you see the state of him in Gladiator (I think that was his last film?) bloated fat mess with ridiculous eyebrows.
It’s no different. While reserving a certain amount of admiration for tortured talented artists who happened to be a mess I have no admiration for that side of their lives. (McGowan is pathetic and not even Irish!)
I accept that there may be a common link between the tortured soul that’s capable of creating great art but also feeds off the need for excess, but I can’t help wondering if they may have been equally as creative clean and sober, and if so then we’ve been denied untold amounts of product.
I reserve equal contempt for people I’ve observed in my own life and ‘rock stars’ / celebs acting like sloppy arseholes in public. Just cos you’ve sold a few records doesn’t absolve you. There’s a piece of film of Keith Richards throwing a TV off a hotel balcony which I’m sure loads of people observe and think “yeah, go on Keef - rock and roll!” - it’s wasteful and pathetic, especially coming from the ‘Salt of the Earth’ working class hero of modest origins.

Fantastic drummer but pissed it away. More than likely had serious mental problems, probably undiagnosed.you must think highly of Keith Moon

I notice that even when Townshend (no stranger to excess and mental issues himself) ‘salutes’ his memory in interviews and on stage he still manages to get some digs in, calling him a ‘wanker’ or whatever even after all these years.
I don't there was anyone with a Degree in Suit Science in those days. That was the 1990s and the early 2000s, the days before social media when no one knew anything about sartorialism. We were so easily impressed back then. Or we just didn't care about suits and things.
FTFYBysomeALL accounts Moon was not a pleasant character.

I bet he’d get all the Pitti ladies today.
He’s streetwear steez chinafriend, not menswear steez chinafriend. Low and flow, broNo, his trousers are too long - to be successful at Pitti nowadays, you need to show your bare ankles.
He's #5:That looks like its from the set of those Sydney photos
no surprise tbh
no surprise tbh
good to see youve gotten out of the closet
Has anyone tried his ties at all?Well of course he’s excited that as close as he’s been to a woman since junior school.
Agreeable by NBA coach standards. Ties his tie too short sometimes.
