Christmas 2016

I thought only the yanks go back on the 27th.

Finally got all of my stuff to the rail station and on to the train. Plenty of young couples and kids using commuter trains to go home.

My neighbourhood is eerily silent.

Oh I'm only going in for the day on the 27th.

Just had to go and rescue the missus in complete darkness on her bike, I warned her not to go out biking 20 minutes before pitch black darkness would descend!

Same here on the silent front, everywhere's closed, all the restaurants, eerily depressing actually. Not a fan of Christmas in general.

Because normal people have Boxing Day on 26 and compensation for Christmas on 27.

Finally got everything here and my mother is shooing me to wrap everything. It is as if the wrapping paper expires when NORAD starts their Santa tracker.

Why wouldn't you have to go back in like normal people?
Because I've hundreds of holidays and I made the rule, including myself, that holidays would not be bought by the company this year.

Still, good to go in and do the Accounts work for them. Shows that there's nothing they can do, that I can't do myself with the aid of the auditors.

Reminds them that they are easily replaced, there's no magic or black arts in their game. Well, until you start getting all creative and bent.

Bryant Park doesn't have a phone line open nor updated webpage to see if their skating rink is open tonight.

Yeah, the 27th I can see. But the take a half a year off at the holidays thing is bizarre. Three, four days tops is all I'm good for at home. If I gotta sit around the house off work for ten days then I'm jumping in front of the bus on day six.

Jumping in front of buses and Christmas Eve - are you doing okay mate?

I'm the same but that's probably why I am forfeiting two and a half weeks of paid time off.

Three more hours until Santa comes! I have two more gifts to wrap.

I'm doing fantastic actually. Made Coq au Vin for dinner and had a bottle of 2002 Mailly bubbly plus whiskey and some red vino. I really need to lay down....

A bottle and a half by yourself? Blimey. Been sober for 60+ hours myself.

--- now I have this in my head after Christmas breakfast...

Now to the Lord sing praises,
All you within this place,
And with true love and brotherhood
Each other now embrace;
This holy tide of Christmas
All other doth deface.
O tidings of comfort and joy,
Comfort and joy
O tidings of comfort and joy

The sentiment and diction keeps improving with every passing hour.

Merry Christmas to one and all!

My father has Natalie Cole cranked high on the stereo.

Oh wonderful - my cousin's wife brought a dog and my mother thinks it is diseased and claims an allergy.

Cousin and siblings' wives all said they don't drink but when the French champagne pop is heard, everyone wants a glass.

Dinner with the in laws tonight. Had a bottle of premier cru Puligny Montrachet, wife is like "ooh this is good, we should drink this regularly". Yeah, maybe if you start driving Uber on the side to pay for it.

We are singing in my family in three generations - yellow submarine in front of Rock Band Beatles.

I'm wearing a tie and having a whisky next to my 79 year old uncle. Lagavulin 16.

I suppose this is it unless west coast or Hawaiian people post on this thread.

Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night.

This song makes me homesick at Xmas.

Not that I'm a big fan. He was a prat in high school and overlooks the fact we had what must have been the only cool chaplain to have served at a boys school.

But still the song makes me miss family and home.

That sir is not Christmas weather.

I actually enjoyed my Christmas's in the tropics, except for that one Christmas spent in Caxias a renowned suburb of Rio where it was between 45-47C and I went quite mad with the heat and mosquitos.
