was the party at a homo bar?I was at a 90s party last night, plenty of the younger lads were wearing this look.
Theres such a thing as a 90s party?
On the upside I suppose Nirvana, Blur, Prince and Michael Jackson were around - on the downside everything else and at the bottom of the pit - Oasis.
Very retro...
The monochrome look was popular, the influence of Reservoir Dogs...
Disagreeable because of the context. It was over 40C and over 90% humidity in Kyoto. There's no way he wore that suit and tie longer than the 15 minutes required for the photo shoot before he was completely drenched. It's fake and inauthentic. Everyone else wears shorts and short sleeve tees and even then doesn't spend much time outside during the day because of the heat.

I sent them the photo of Paul Lux in double denim and told them this is a look now - they said "he is a gayman".
REM are OK - I love that Man on The Moon still.REM were on a roll as well in the early 90s. Haven't dated to well now, but there were good at the time. And remember those MTV Unplugged sets? Most of them were dire. Neil Young's and Bruce Springsteen's stand out as the worse performances of their careers.
Oasis were darlings of the tabloid press mid-90s. They were obsessed with them for about two years.
Then there was all that Britpop trying to reinvent the UK and London as swinging once again. It worked for sometime, especially for Tony Blair. The Union Jack re-emerged as a fashion symbol and has been with us ever since. You still see girls sporting Union Jack flags and T-shirts. We won't see London swinging again that's for sure.

Oasis were something that never made any sense outside of UK.
edit: I'm not sure they made much sense inside UK but its what I hear people who should know say.

Indeed it was, especially ties that matched your shirt exactly. Remember that? Awful.
That may explain why his hair looks like he has a tub of Brylcream on it.
The Regis Philbin look. He made the shirt and tie in the same colour look very popular when he was constantly on the box hosting the Millionaire game show.
Or, if you watch more critically acclaimed shows, Frasier.
Even though we made this, I still don't like it. Terrible cloth (Dashing Tweeds) and even more terrible colour (swipe for the full "disagreeable" experience):

David Niven had a go too:
Malta wont know what hit it all right...

Funny but iirc benny hill, Siiiimon Deee and My Cocaine all worked together on the Italian Job. Not sure who was taking the piss out of whom with the matching shirts and ties.
Speak for yourselfI.. last breath of the swinging sixties. It was all sadly, downhill from there on in....
Speak for yourself
its from the anchorman movieI liked it, but not the dog getting launched.

That's a bathrobe, not a cardigan.
When a TopTop™Influencer calls a bath robe a cardigan it's a cardigan.
It is constructive, 1300 quid for a pair of pants is taking the piss.
Was it knit from Vicuna? Not as bad as the £1700 cardigan he had the other week. It's kinda making me want to quit classic menswear as whole.
