If you are not biased, you will never define that look as disagreeable. Of course the shirt may be too deeply unbuttoned and the trousers are too short (current standard, however), but to me it's a pleasant look. Nice jumper and trousers well matched.

I think that’s the point. If you bumped into your musty smelling high school maths teacher and he was dressed like this, you’d think he was well put together. But when it comes with pages of prose for the bespoke artisans and ‘good value’ trousers In the $1000 to $5000 range, we all laugh.

After years or being aware of Crompton and occasionally reading his blog, it suddenly occurred to me only quite recently that he once came to see me when I had an office in Mayfair. I knew his face was familiar.

Not seen him before. I was surprised that he was not a European and I did not expect he would have an American southern drawl. He could be a refugee from the pages of ‘The Chap’ magazine and he has got the cravat to prove it.

Still, he’s not badly turned out for a fat lad. Also useful topics for fatties like - fitting in airline seats.

I don’t have any issues with Rod the Mod or his blog. I like him and his posts can be interesting, even though I am not mod-minded. I don’t really see any similarities between the two posters except that they post on the internet.

I doubt very much if a fat bloke with any sense couldn't do better than the advice being offered by another fat bloke who looks such a dork. As for Rodders I know lots of Mods and frankly they all have more idea than him about fit or colourways. So thats kinda where the similarties are. Check Rods lastest "linen suit" post. Chirst the shirt is a woeful fit. And the shoulders on the suit coat are terrible. You think he knows that? Of course not.

I have said that colour linen suit is not a good idea when eating messy food. The shoulders look OK to me. Even if they were not a linen suit will rumple with wear, so not a big deal. The shirt is too short.

Actually these are pretty good outfits, except for some details like the overlong neckties. Is it possible that so many men wear such excessive specimens? Moreover I find deplorable the use to tie them letting the small end quite longer than the blade, a mode quite widespread among iGents.

The first guy was pretty good for nowadays standard.


Some people ask bespoke ties just to show off the two blades at the same height, while the protocole of dressing says the small blade be hiden. In fact some posted pics of Trump with scotch tape to adhesivate the narrow blade and avoid it showing. Nice trick!

btw, pictures of right now on the process of making a pure camel wool tie in 7 fold, really unlined.

When usually is said “unlined”, really means “half lined” since the lining is cutted at the aprox 75% part of the tie to avoid it being seen. Sarto was commisioned by a member of this forum with a really non lined tie, in this case, the usual main and only fabric is cutted on a different way to fold it as sctructure. And as trademark of the house, ancient mobiles lenses to unfocus well :problemo: This is a weird pattern never seen.
