Disagreeable Menswear Post Of The Day

Actually I like this colour combination. The jacket is a bit short and the lapel too narrow for my taste, but to be honest I don't find this look disagreeable.
What do you dislike so much?
Isn't the short jacket length enough? Walked past Oger (Dutch Prime Minister, Mark Rutte's alleged tailor, enough said) the other day and they were full of them. Even on the dummies they finished somewhere around the belly button. The most effeminate inducing style mistake possible. I like the tie though.

I love those Fray Pique BDs they sell. They do look lush. I've got a couple of Fray BDs, scored off ebay. Collar height is good and its a fantasic roll on them. Price is insane though for the Pique even before customs. I did enquire but they won't ship with a marked down price so I'd have to put in another 150 for post and customs I reckon. No chance.

Oger make their money by selling several looks to footballers and the likes on home visits. They're doing well.

They were alright in the 2000's, but they're not really interested in trade off the street now. The outfitter further down the road is Pelger (Oger was founded by two ex-employees), that's a disaster, doesn't know where to place itself, half-English, half-Italian, RL polos? Who the hell buys full price Ralphy polos when you can get for 1/3 of the price in the local outlet village? At least Barbour restrict buying on their website to certain countries, so here in the Netherlands were stuck paying double the price than in the UK from the official dealers.

The common denominator of Oger and Pelger is that they're both empty of customers.

Opposite the Houses of Parliament you have F.G. van den Heuvel, still the best for ties and off the peg jackets. Owned by a conglomerate of plastic surgeons and gentleman amateurs, they own the building as well, but they're struggling and have had days go by with no visitors and customers in the pandemic.

I not really a fan of what Oger sells, just those Fray Piques though some of the other shirts are nice but you can get nice shirts anywhere I guess. Those Piques are sweet as. We've a few shops here on a par with Oger that I sometimes roam round but never buy anything. Yeah, very footballer tacky. Can't stand those Jacob Cohen jeans they sell. Horrid. Popular though, you know the type...low cut too tightCohen jeans, blue blazer, hair a bit to long for his age, white shirt, big watch. Stupid coloured frames if he's got glasses on. God I hate that look.

Natalino do similar Pique shirts, strange cut thou. Ultra slim even in XXL.

Not a button-down fan, but I love pique cloths. Though very steep price.
By the way Fray has a very loose fit: I tried a shirt years ago and had to change it with something else because it was really large.

Neapolitan "spalla a camicia" extreme. If I like some softness and some gathering, here it's excessive and unpleasant, probably also because of the fabric, which moreover creases oddly at the sleeves.

Also, the lapels are so ludicrously large that Signor Ambrosi looks like he would be able to take flight (perhaps to escape from angry customers who have yet to receive their long-delayed trousers...).

I usually like broad lapels, but have to agree that's a little too much.

Mine aren't a loose fit, not slim fit but not baggy either, maybe they do different fits?

Last time I saw lapels like that I was fighting a vampire.
Do you think it makes his head look a bit oval?
It looks like he's had that tattoo treatment to make it look like you've got a skinhead and not a slap head.

I met Mr. Ambrosi a couple of times. Really nice guy, great sense of humor. I've never had an issue with delivery time on my orders.

In fact the only time I have heard about issues with Ambrosi was when I learned about The Foo, a few weeks ago.
I don’t use his services (I prefer Cerrato), but I’ve heard nothing but good things about him.

Seeing as I'm 6'5 and he's got such short legs theres some irony there I guess.

If the single breasted jacket looks better, I see the match with the shirt rather unlucky: a tone similar but still enough different doesn't suit really.

Noteworthy the single buttoned sleeves, typical Neapolitan.

For those who didn’t get it.

after the Foo trousers contretemps Ambrosi got pissed (Australian = drunk) one night in Japan, went online to SF and called Foo an “oval headed dwarf”

I actually like all of those casual looks! Also, I have both a patch madras shirt, and a pair of shorts, that are very similar to those above.

I remember that repurposing a tie as a belt was popular when I was at university - one of my female friends "borrowed" a couple of her dad's ties and made belts out of them.

In this case, however, the surcingle belt is deliberately made like that, from Brooks Brothers tie fabric:

I dig madras, but patch madras I never liked even when I was into Ivy and the BB look.

Mercer & Sons had a fantastic madras cloth in, but not anymore.

Seem to be some issues with their website as well. I said I have wide feet, but that’s ridiculous.
