Why was Mitchell Moss suited and booted (in borrowed, scammed, donated clothes ) as if he's a business executive, when in real life he's lowly print shop handyman? Cosplaying? Inferiority complex?

The question is asked every year / twice a year:
Why do people who have no connection to the clothing business other than as consumers feel the need to travel half way around the world to go to a trade show?
The time and expense involved just so you can get a few selfies with the regulars and post on your Instagram - baffles the crap outta me!

I think I explained deeply:

Cluster B disorder,

Key facts

  • Histrionic personality disorder is where people seek attention and are overly emotional.
  • People with this disorder may seem highly dramatic, lively, excitable and impulsive.
  • Symptoms include discomfort when not the centre of attention, inappropriate seductive behaviour and quick changing emotions.
  • The cause is not entirely known but can involve child abuse, trauma or neglect.
  • The main treatment is long-term psychological therapy.

What is histrionic personality disorder (HPD)?

Histrionic personality disorder (HPD) is a type of personality disorder that shows a pattern of attention-seeking behaviours, seductive behaviour and emotional over-reaction.

Females are more likely to be diagnosed with HPD than males.

What are the symptoms of HPD?

The main symptoms of someone with HPD are:

  • constantly seeking attention
  • being uncomfortable in situations where they are not the centre of attention
  • being overly seductive or sexually provocative
  • showing emotions that appear to be shallow and change rapidly
  • speaking vaguely, lacking in detail
  • being easily influenced by others or circumstances
  • considering relationships to be more intimate than they actually are
People with HPD can seem highly dramatic, excitable and impulsive.

Many people have some of these traits but are still able to function normally and do not have a personality disorder. A personality disorder is a long-term pattern of behaviour, thinking and emotions that causes distress to the person or those around them. This makes it difficult for the person to function in everyday life.

People with personality disorders find it hard to change their behaviour or adapt to different situations. They may have trouble:

  • building positive relationships with others
  • keeping a job

What causes HPD?

The cause is not completely known. Both genetics (inherited traits) and childhood events are thought to have impact.

When should I see my doctor?

If you think that you have symptoms of HPD, you should seek help from your doctor. They may refer you to a psychiatrist or psychologist who has experience treating people with personality disorders.

It can be difficult for someone with HPD to seek treatment since they generally do not recognise they have a problem. HPD may not be diagnosed until their behaviour is affecting their life and relationships.

I like the shirt. Rambo will disagree with me on this as he thinks horizontal stripes are always unflattering, but I like Bretton stripes worn under a casual jacket. I’d like to get the long sleeve polo shirt made by MM’s gay sailor wear connnection:

Kinda reminds me of our fave gay rebel heartthrob of the 50s:

Supposedly the best bespoke DB suit ever made, courtesy of Master Kotaro of Sartoria Corcos fame. View attachment 49986
Its' corcos "best" work because shapeless manlet is Kotaro's type. He worked very hard to whip this boy into unshape so that he would be a "bespoke fit."

Jokes aside, apart from the actually good fit of the jacket, there is nothing remarkable about the cut that adds anything to the wearer. The wearer being equally unremarkable apart from his igent pompadour, and poorly selected shoes. Nobody comments on anything but their DB because there's nothing else to look at.

They're literally nothing without the DB, and that's exactly how Kotaro likes his boys....cause they keep coming back for more "fixes."

Even a second tier RTW suit looks better than the bespoke shite from Kotaro.

Since my starts on forums, I realiced most of this idiots who post pics of his new hyped untailor fits, got any idea about tailoring and fitting. Just follow internet hypes as people who buys a Ferrari because "it´s the best you can buy".

It happened with the awful fittings Foo tackynacci suits, everybody was saying wow, while I only watched the huge fails it has.

The equivalent of this is if any of this dumbs would ever post a pic of a dirty, smashed, whacked or dented Ferrari, believing that people would love them instead of mocking out of them.

On the tailoring houses I worked, any of this idiots was welcome, because with their nonsense, they can ruin your name easily with their bullshit, things that a a local doctor or lawyer won´t ever do and they are frequent clientele.

The degenerate fake tie scammer Gianni was the most hated around.

The problem with internet fashion discussion is that it becomes centered around the taste of a very specific few in a thunderdome of "civilized" autism. Foo was never a good dresser. From all his bespoke projects and endless back-and-forths with some [debatably] better dressed people in the course of over 20 years, he has learned nothing about proper silhouette or colour. He has always approached everything he's done with a fintech bro mindset of minmaxing...max street cred...max cost...max whining. That giant fragile ego of his didn't help either.

Forgetting the fact that his anomalously massive squared jaw, soft asian face structure, and the squared shoulders of rubinnaci created a huge dissonance in every single suit he wore (vox sartoria tried to cope about it in a post trying to place blame on the lapels or something for internet hurrah points). Foo always looked like the suits were wearing him...that the fact that foo wore them made the suits uglier. Fundamentally, it was just a huge mismatch of house cut with the body, and this tension of wanting to "fit in with the cool crowd" just oozing discomfort and tryhard in all his photos and interactions.

He would have learned how to dress well organically over time if he'd had any real passion for clothing (he doesn't)...go thrift a bunch of cuts...get half decent rtw then move up as you slowly figure out what works and what doesn't, and why things look crappy or don't. Learn to appreciate the process of failing as long as you're learning how to dress better for it. Hence, my biggest disappointment with him is that he doesn't want to learn; he wants shortcuts.

Now, why did I discuss foo at length? He's basically every terminally online igent whoring himself for approval but maxed out. All of them come to see bespoke as some sort of short cut to any degree of acceptance and popularity. Clothing is a means to an end to them. Just something to get out of the way so they can make other dudes jealous, and get the ladies they never could. They don't want to learn because they don't actually care to...they'd probably learn the bare minimum just to be able to dress okay, and then delude themselves they belong in the top 1% of dressers world wide. This is the same attitude keeping the fatally mediocre Sartoria Corcos afloat. The idiots are so arrogant as to see themselves as emperors wearing new clothes. The very insinuation that Corcos is not the godking tailor is like being told by a child that one is naked and bereft of style.

I’m not well enough versed in psychology to be able to say exactly what condition Foo has but there’s definitely some sort of autistic cognitive dissonance going on there. All of which was patently evident in the past but even more exemplified by his recent laughable pivot into ‘Streetwear’ where once again he’s making the fundamental error of conflating price with quality. A recent fit pic had him wearing grey sweat pants and a graphic t shirt with predictably poor results not least because his [hugely unflattering] silhouette has been completely ignored. All items were ludicrously expensive of course and perfectly summarized by one commentator who said he’s paid thousands of dollars to look like he bought his clothes in Target! Suiting is supposed to emphasize positives and hide negatives. A T shirt just exposes spaghetti arms and soft pudgy mid section.
I’m curious to know what his target audience is now. In the past he was clearly chasing the goal of being crowned king of the forum and craving the affirmation of Vox and other SF elders but now? Who? The clowns on the SAD forum? Or is it enough for him to walk around knowing he paid ten grand for what he’s wearing regardless of how ridiculous he looks and of who may or may not approve.

He seems to be the classical vulnerable narcissist ( on the contrary to the malevolant narcissists, the one step before psychopathy) with comorbility with histrionism.

By the way as you say, he buys the most expensive things as social shield, as an armour. He seems to have the most expensive Porsche 911,a special edition over 300k ( and way tacky against the basic more elegant models lacking of all those spoilers, air holes etc), Tackynacci suits: the most expensive either ( well Kiton is way over and pointing out this kind of tackys with tons of millions to easily waste) and that rubish of street rags.

Well said

But wasn´t this guy lawyer in NYC? There is yet one of the few cities with a very good old way dressing code for it. Or he is just a liver out of other people fortune?

For people like foo, just knowing he paid more than you is enough validation. It's why there has been no self reflection on any of his outfits, and why his legendary bespoke lore is about him lording how many bespoke commissions he has in the span of exhaustingly long threads. He wants you to know he has money, and is a "totally cool dude whose in the know, y'know." He bought a porsche gt something something and became a car expert. Bought a beginner patek and became some watch master. Same song and dance all the way through.

On a more clothing related note, I was actually thinking about the grey sweatpants when I crucified him over the 20 year period comment. The grey t-shirt + sweatpants look is literally bottom tier "athleisure." If you had to pick anything from that genre of dress, you would literally be shooting yourself in the foot if you picked that. Foo did that and then did a triple backflip headfirst into a toilet before his chunky sneakers kicked the flush handle.

Foo literally always looks like he's about to crawl out of his own skin, he doesn't have the chill vibe to even make any athleisure look cool let alone the most bland soccer mom outfit to rule them all, and THEN HE ADDED DROP CROTCH SWEATPANTS (look at the rise on those pants). You don't use drop crotch anything unless you really know what you're doing, and then you think about using it 20 times more. He spent a lot on the most bland thing...all he had to do was just get normal rise sweatpants, and he failed that too.

He really just needs to dress his age, and get items that he would actually see himself wearing without thinking too much about them. No amount of tailoring, hype streetwear, or high fashion can save a man who always looks like he's about to explode right out of his clothes. It'd do him more good than chasing the validation of people who do like and know how to dress in the genres he tries to invade. If his endgame clothes end up being helly hansen tech bro fleece then at least I don't have to cringe nearly as hard when I look at his attempts.
