Improvement or How The Fuck Do We Get Some More People To Sign Up

Do any of these connote conversation in any way? They sound more like style blogs.

Why? It's possible, nay desirable to think about two things at once.

Given that Dumb Threads is kind of the raison d'être of this place, could it be unhidden from unregistered users? Or at least some part of it? Other than the naked picture threads, there's nothing that outrageous in there. This would allow passers by to appreciate the place a bit more.

Unfortunately, its not possible. Unless we split the nudie business off into a separate forum. But then everything in DT would get indexed by google and be searchable.

He succeeded, creating a unique place with a distinct atmosphere. The pace over there is glacial, but that's ok. The clothes section has a nice mellow feel, and actually a pretty quality WAYWT thread with some top dressers. And of course DT. Ape SF and we'll always come off second best. Being distinct is key - the mellowness of the clothing threads and the uncensordness of DT seem to me the key differences.

Alden presumably turns a profit from his cloth club (or covers his costs). Some kind of USP like that for WDWV would be great and would help engagement and eventually generate some income unrelated to advertising. Though here I run out of ideas. I was excited by the group order on the shoes and disappointed when it didn't happen. Clearly there aren't enough of us to do that sort of thing on a regular basis yet, but it's a thought.

I'm sure you've tried already but a good way to spread the word would be to get mentions on some popular blogs or tumblrs. Someone like Put This On would be good. I don't know if there's a way of reaching out to those guys.

Fascinating info about LL. Who was he on SF? Im sure that with enough time we could get some kind of shop setup or something of the sort.

Being in the low post state we are, its always seemed a bit of a double edged sword trying to advertise amongst the blogs. "hey, we've got this really cool forum. I know no one's on it right now, but it'll be really popular one day!" That sort of thing.

But my question about the bloggy-sounding name was a serious one. Shouldn't the name connote some sort of discussion or forum or something other than just "good clothes"?
 
Alright, so it seems we're all pretty much in agreement a rebranding needs to happen. So let's narrow down some name choices. Serious ones plz.
 
SEO - Search Engine Optimization, is the technical term to describe such search rejiggering.

Which, of course, is more difficult to do if your website has 4 odd letters as its name as opposed to actual words.

It was cool though because we could search stuff and see it work, and he'd make weekly/monthly print outs showing different statistics of what terms were searched that lead to someone going to our website, traffic data, etc.

Works for me. I've been meaning to get started with it so I can use it for my travel blog.

At this point, the bridging options between Xenforo and Wordpress are not robust, so I would not factor that into your equation just yet.

They do have some interesting bridge plugins that will actually replicate wordpress posts as a forum post. They're just not quite ready for prime time.
 
If you want to see if your name idea is unregistered you can use either namecheap.com or godaddy.com
 
Oh, I'm thinking about it. But, if you haven't picked up on it yet, this isn't exactly my strongsuit. So a little crowdsourcing is beneficial IMO. At least to me.

I second this. Menwithstyle.com might not sound that attractive.

If we get dressedwell.net maybe we can attract some wimmenz. Then obviously we all will try to hit on them, they leave and we go back to just be dudes, Lady Canucker and the tranny threads and that stuff. :LOLguy:
