I just installed a sticky navigation that allows the nav bar to follow you up and down the screen. Settings need to be tweaked some, and its got difficulties on mobile, but let me know what you think if you get it working.

I just installed an addon that should further clamp down on the spam registrations. Getting a little tired of killing new registrations from spammers daily.

For those of use who are more politically inclined, I've added in Democracy Now as an embed video source:

I redid the forum structure since most of the new forums were going unused. Really no point in continuing this fucking charade.

I see the Trad Ivy thing is gone, and I never really thought it warranted a subcategory. What else changed?

The continental sub forum, the audio forum, and then all the forum subsections. The euro's never materialized with all their posts and no one gave a shit about OfficePants audio forum.

I thought it got posts. Takes time.

Maybe, maybe not. Either way I made the call and its done. If we get inundated by members from audio forums around the world I'll be more than happy to separate it again.

I don't understand the choice. Does it cost you money to have a sub-forum? Yet you have 6 or 7 members here solidly into the hobby, not to mention the music thread. pan51 just posted some pretty sick equipment not long ago, and so I think it's hair trigger. This needed a year to assess. If you want a forum where all the subforums are generica, so be it.

And that's ok. I always welcome your input. I took your suggestion, gave it a run, and it just didn't work out. They all can't be winners.

A year tryout is ridiculous. 5 or 6 members doesn't warrant an entire subforum, and if these people were that in to the hobby, the sub forum would have been busy. It wasn't. It doesn't mean the other forums are generic. But we've got to get people signing up, and they don't want to sign up for a forum that looks like its partially dead. A more condensed view looks better on the front end.

Again, if these people decide to start posting, I'm happy to revisit the idea.

I wouldn't have bothered asking if I understood you expected a flood of audiophiles to join here within a month or two after creating it.

Why are you still harping on this shit? Do you feel disappointed somehow? It's been several months. It didn't bring in a single person. Let it go.

Last words on it. "Harping" because you're trying to mirror everyone else. Here is a spot to differentiate, and you've passed it by thru impatience, bypassing a group of audiophiles who would take an active interest in curating the section over time. It might not be obvious, but there is a correlation between clothes hounds and audio nuts. It didn't cost you a cent to keep that section alive, and it gives passers by a reason to join, now what was in that section is buried. You need to give people reasons to find a home here, and looking just like StyleForum isn't it.

doghouse doghouse just found out that Thread Tagging is on the way in the next big forum software update.

It would be good to have an alert for popular or "trending" threads suggested on the front page, say for threads that have had 20 posts in the last 2 hours or something but aren't featured threads like (dis)agreeable, trainwreck etc.

I often find I've missed out on being where the cool kids are engaging in interesting discussion in some obscure thread I've never heard of or has been dormant for weeks only to become the centre of attention for some of the wittier members (so not Arnathor or verrihappy threads). Especially as regular alerts are only generated for the threads you have viewed/posted in recently.

Not sure if that makes sense.

Well we have the Latest/New Threads/Popular widget on the main forum index page. You can also watch threads via the Thread Tools at the top. As far as a "hot" tab, or something along those lines, I'll see what I can cock up.

Yes, those are good features but if there is a flurry of activity in a thread say over a few hours when a user is not online, then a few posts made in other slower threads before he logs on again, he (okay, I) potentially miss the larger, deeper discussion in the first thread completely (unless stumbled on by chance later). Especially if it is a completely new thread I would never think to watch or the thread title undersells it.

A "hot" thread tab for threads maybe with high post count over last 24 hours might make them easier to find, and the dicussions would be even more awesome the sooner I am involved.

I must say I only discovered the IGNORE button a while back - made my browsing experience 136.7% better. I doubt I've missed much either.

I understand what you're aiming at. I'm checking with the software forum to see if creating a widget like that is possible.

P Nez - (hhehe P Nez = pe nis) The funny little red ALERTS button on the top right shows a bit of whats going on.

But it alerts you only for threads viewed recently. Also you won't be "alerted" to good new threads. I want to be alerted not alarmed.
Don't worry - theres a few others whose content - lack of - will reward you blocking them!

Yes the ignore feature makes me verrihappy.

I'm very happy too - It used to be worst. Don't be russian into it. But its insta nt joy if your friend is a customer.
