The nice bit is there is a button somewhere occasionally which says "Show ignored content" just in case you wonder if you are missing something. I'm not.

Main advantage is is saves screen space and scrolling - I ignored stuff anyway but this actually hides it

I can make some audio contributions shortly but the sub-forum was Fokked !!!

This could sound a bit controversial, but you might want to keep the dumb threads section and a lot of other threads out of the recent posts ticker on the front page. A lot of that stuff does not attract new members, and could actually cause the opposite. After all, this is first and foremost a clothing forum, right?

I think many people want to move on from SFs no critique and hyper commercial atmosphere, but do not want to be associated with a lot of the stuff that's posted on the non-clothing related threads here. This doesn't mean you should be an SF clone, and I don't think dressedwell ever will be, but it should help lots with attracting new members and actually keeping them here. Let's just say I'd never recommend this forum to a friend, because I'd be embarrassed to be associated with a lot of the stuff that's posted here.

What? All of the crazy/racist/homophobic/conspiracy stuff is fine, but this warrants a "Jesus, really"?

All I'm saying is that the crazy threads don't end up on SFs (or any regular forum) front page either. This thread is about how to get more people to sign up and keep them, right? I think this would be one way to keep people once they've signed up. You can disagree, but don't be mystified why not many people sign up and stay.

To make it clear, I'm not talking about dirty jokes or the casual off topic conversation or being super PC.

Algernon Crisp Algernon Crisp as a member that signed up recently what's your opinion?

What's all this homophobic/racist stuff you're referring to in regards to threads themselves? Nothing from DT is viewable on the front page feeds.

The Jesus was for the "I wouldn't recommend this to my friends or anyone I know", which even for a PC pantywaist like yourself, is pretty crappy to say.

I'm very happy too - It used to be worst. Don't be russian into it. But its insta nt joy if your friend is a customer.

Please put me on ignore. I am feeling left out and vulnerable.

C'mon Russell Street Russell Street is not that bad!

Algernon Crisp Algernon Crisp as a member that signed up recently what's your opinion?

My opinion shouldn't be taken into account, as I disagree with pretty much everybody in the entire world. So asking me what is good for attracting new members is a really bad idea.

Regrading posts that would be considered offensive in a mainstream place. My view is that there is no such thing as an offensive opinion, so I don't mind what anybody thinks, or writes - it's none of my business.

It might be a good idea to keep some of the more wacky stuff off the front page, or it might not - I honestly don't know. I like the craziness of this forum, anything goes culture, and all the rest. It may put other people off, but just speaking personally I enjoy the madness.

If suggestions are being sought to improve the forum, I really don't have any - I think it's great how it is. I genuinely laugh out loud at lots of posts, the standard of knowledge about menswear seems high, and people seem to have good taste (unlike those unmen at SF).

But like I say, what I like and what the world in general likes are two completely different things.

I've mentioned it before, but if ads were introduced, I wouldn't see a problem with that at all. This is a great forum and if Rambo were able to make money from it, I'd be delighted.

Crazy yes, but I would argue there is nothing racist or homophobic anywhere here. I would consider the environment stripped of PC bondage, and it reflects how people really talk and feel about each other. I'm sure you can probably suss out a couple of examples that are borderline, but in general it's refreshingly free of boundaries.

I completely agree.

One of the things i don't like about SF is the immature casual misogyny and anti gay sentiment and unconscious rejection of differences. Sadly theres an excess of it here too.

So it seems that the new user PM was FULL of broken links which directed users to error pages. I am sorry to anyone who's signed up recently for the glaringly obvious fuckup.

Yes, those are good features but if there is a flurry of activity in a thread say over a few hours when a user is not online, then a few posts made in other slower threads before he logs on again, he (okay, I) potentially miss the larger, deeper discussion in the first thread completely (unless stumbled on by chance later). Especially if it is a completely new thread I would never think to watch or the thread title undersells it.

A "hot" thread tab for threads maybe with high post count over last 24 hours might make them easier to find, and the dicussions would be even more awesome the sooner I am involved.
I think I've found a solution that would add in another widget to the index page and the front page. Reasonably priced as well. Hopefully it'll be available in the next few weeks.

We REALLY need someone to run the Twitter account. I'm not a Twitter guy so its just going to waste. Any takers?

I signed up to Twitter in 2007 thinking it was going to be the next big thing.

Never used it since.

Twitter is for illiterate cunts. I know everybody has to use it now, but Lord above, what we have come to in these latter days.

I'd love to volunteer, but I'd probably drive people away, and with the first Crisplet on the way I'm working like crazy and don't have any spare time.

Since I had to redo the style from scratch (still working on that btw so bear with me) I added in the rest of the icons to the people in the supporter user group. If any of you don't like your icon you can choose from here

Font Awesome Icons

I tried to take educated guesses.

Bugger. You beat me. I didn't get to it until 2008.i actually convened a group to use it professionally. Lasted a month. Haven't used it since then, other than save for a few limp attempts to see how it might be utilised usefully. It can't. And you know when politicians, spin doctors and journalists use it then it's fucking useless.

But it is important for an organisation eg a forum, to say you use it, and pretend to use it. People who use it can't tell you don't take it seriously.

I am pretty much in the same boat. First puppy on the way and work has hit Maximum Overdrive. But I do use twitter all day, mainly as my news feed. Follow all the pertinent outfits and it's like a news aggregator. So I can type out some nonsense every now and then if need be.
