Thank you!
I was born and grew up in north italy, moved to London more than a decade ago. I like simple but well cut clothes, and tend to prefer more casual outfits, also given my job in tech - can’t dress up too much at work, basically - but I still like to put good thoughts in what I wear and keep some elegance in my attire.
I really liked what I read so far in this forum, the humour especially! Looking forward to participating actively in the community!

Thank you for the welcome Grand Potentate Grand Potentate . Hello everyone, my name is C, and I’m a knitwear-holic. When I say I have an addiction, it is not an exaggeration: I go absolutely bat sh*t crazy over well-made sweaters.

I am fortunate to live in a part of the world where cold weather creeps in around September and last well into early may, so sweaters are my favourite category of clothing. Hell, even now in the gold of summer, I go for coffee runs in the morning and work from home in light cashmere jumpers.

I keep a spreadsheet of all the clothing I own, and of course a separate one for my knitwear collection, as a way to keep a rein on my sweater addiction. Now at around 100 jumpers in my small, cramped wardrobe, I practice the one-in-one-out approach to keep it under control: If I acquire a new sweater, I must get rid of one.

My go-to staples are crewnecks, half-zips, polos and full zip sweater jackets. My least favourites are v-necks and shawl cardigans. Around 1/4 of my knitwear are LORO PIANA, with the rest being primarily Italian-made.

With almost 100 sweaters in my collection, I can literally wear a different sweater every day for over three months, so a jumper’s durability isn’t my main concern. To me, the most important aspects of a sweater is the quality of fibres used and design (fit, proportions silhouette).

My best sweaters in terms of fibre quality are from LORO PIANA; my most well made sweaters are William Lockie; and my coolest, most interesting sweaters in terms of design - and my most expensive - are from CHANEL.

Watch out, DressedWell. You just got a crazy one.

What Ho Chaps. Just a few words by way of a short introduction.

Former member here (can't remember the username, it's been quite a few years). The arrival of a little one meant limited opportunities to wear proper clothes, not to mention reduced funds to spend on many hand passes. And of course, no time for participating in discussions on the internet. In case you're wondering, yes, Aethelwulf Longschwanz is my real name.

Been getting back to dressing like an adult recently. Fortunately I've never dressed like a Pitti wanker so all my old threads looks as good today as they would have done back in the 30s.

I've just started getting a few new things for the first time in years. Mooching about the internet for something or other, one of the search results brought up a blog post from Crappers. Hadn't thought about him for years - "Begod, that trout-shaped tosspot can't still be around" thinks I. So I clicked on the link, and sure enough there he was, dribbling on about ever more ludicrous commissions. It won't be long before the only thing left to get will be a bespoke, handcrafted, Neapolitan butt-plug, complete with artisanal lube to ease the passage into his prominent seat.

More years on his ski-slope shoulders, but otherwise just the same old Crappers. That put me in mind of the assorted i-gentry and all their silliness, and a quick check revealed that they are still going strong - if anything things are getting worse. The entirety of the menswear internet is populated by shills, tackys, unmen wearing unclothes, and disease-dungeon degenerates. One despairs.

But then a happy thought struck me. There was one place, fondly remembered, where men of good character could find respite from the legions of sockless hand-fuckers that infested everywhere else. I imagined that it would have met it's demise, as almost all good things have. But, for all that the light of Civilisation is almost extinguished in this Godless world, a few flames still flicker amongst the ruins, dimly discernible in the darkness for those who know where to seek them. There was a chance, just the faintest of chances, that the old refuge of good taste and sound judgement still stood in the howling wilderness that is the arse-end of Mankind's existence. And if it had fallen to the savage hordes, well, at least I could mourn its passing in the proper fashion. I determined to seek it out.

So here I am.

Sorry you couldn’t find the site you were looking for, but we are glad you came here instead!

welcome S SwissAndrew

make sure to put Pimpernel Smith Pimpernel Smith on ignore now just to get ahead of it in time.
Hello,

A short introduction. Came here via Google for the knitwear thread as I've a desire to own some more lambswool jumpers, ideally a bit heavier than the usual Smedley stuff.

I don't like shopping and tend not to buy much but when needs-must am likely to go for classic stuff and then wear it until it's not repairable any more. Started to appreciate well-made stuff when I got a Saturday job selling Church's shoes (which I could then of course get a bit cheaper so wore them through my final years of school). These days proper shoes are Lobb, Edward Green and for country wear Trickers.

Most days you'd find me in jeans and a polo shirt. I'm still keen on a tie (I have a decent sized collection from my previous working life, mostly Charvet and Hermes with a the odd few club ties) which I tend to wear peaking out from underneath a jumper. Shirts from Stephen Lachter. Last suits John Kent.

Hate visible labels. Mostly get British made stuff though am known to buy Loro Piana if it's a good price. British, though live at 1750m in Switzerland.

Thank you, Grand Potentate Grand Potentate and Dropbear Dropbear , was just checking out different menswear forums a couple of days ago and came across this place. Looks really interesting, have been reading quite a few threads here and look forward to asking questions and contributing soon! :)

or he could just avoid your inane bullshit like just about every other member of the forum has.
But not you, interestingly enough.

The herd doesn't interest me, if 8 out of 10 cats don't get me, I'm interested in the 2 cool cats who do.

As Chet Baker said ''...less than 2 percent of the public can really hear.'' The 98% ain't worth bothering about.

So if I can engage with 20% of the forum, that's good enough for me.
