It's always five o'clock somewhere

Huh? How so? Single malt?

So I have a 1L bottle of stoli bought from my yesteryears. I'd like to use it to make some cocktails for Christmas. Although my family would like some creamy frappe, white Russian esque in a punch bowl, I'd rather do something a little healthier to watch my waistline. So far, I'm thinking something that's easy to whip up in a pitcher: Moscow mule, or bloody mary. Anything else?

Just spike your eggnog with it. Not very healthy though, but very delicious.

I'm skipping the cocktail. Champagne is going to cost me a fortune.

At any rate, Rickard's Red - what is an Irish Red Ale? What can I buy as a substitute because I don't fancy going 2km to haul a case for my cousin's husband?

Had a bit of a whisky tasting today - US, Japanese, Scotch, Australian; blended and single malt. No complaints from my old man who promptly retired to the chaise afterward and fell asleep there.

All this followed some NZ sauvignon blanc, and the mandatory bottles of veurve and bolli... In other words just another day in the life of Fwiffo Fwiffo .

Had a bottle of rose last night. I hadn't drunk rose for years and didn't particularly remember liking it back at that time, but this was very drinkable, although wine snobs might turn up their noses at it. It went down very easily on a hot day.

JM - I've tried that Arrogant Frog in a Shiraz I think in a 1 litre bottle - its OK for the price. And its French. Been drinking soem Japanese stuff- Pomello I think - its a bit like a Lemon /Pomegranate Liquire. Label is in Japaneses. Also a French Lychee Liquire. How do you spell liquire?

Some gin recommendations? I always have hendricks, anything else?

I like the fruitness of hendricks and the scent of it.
Hendricks is a cucumber based gin, so it's Fairly light. Junipero is VERY juniper based. Plymouth is a good dry British style gin. Tanqueray 10 is also good.

Of the bunch Plymouth is my favorite

Plymouth is a semi-sweet gin. Good though. London Drys would be Beefeater, Bombay and the like.

Today a Negroni.

Why? First warm days of summer here. So thought it fitting to unwind, after a day of shaking hands and kissing babies, with a italian summer classic.

Avoid Jack Daniels too. No longer the original recipe. Bastards lowered the alcocontent.

Recently I'm really into mezcal, the smokier the better, but that stuff is pricey in Europe. Will pick up a bottle a bottle or two when I'm in NY.

I heard those were less smoky?
they're definitely not on the smokier side but they are fucking delicious. you have to be careful with mezcals - some end up too smoky and it feel like you're sipping a glass of liquid smoke.

I was unaware that one could drink mescaline. Useful thread.

Get yer inches of cactus that you need to Guve you the trip you need.

Think brewing tea.

chop it up, boil it, strain it, repeat. Then reduce it. Don't use a blender. Horribly vile tasting.

Enjoy
