Within hours of the announcement, thousands of adverts appeared from Russians reselling food from its restaurants, at up to 10 times the usual price. 'Nuggets and pies bought just before the restaurant chain closed down. Your last chance to taste foreign bliss,' said one message."

I have to think those resell prices steadily decline as the food rots?

Ukraine war: Russian officials seize Swiss watches apparently worth millions

Agents raided a Moscow premises of luxury brand Audemars Piguet, according to a report in Swiss media.

Watches from Audemars Piguet can cost more than £700,000 ($921,000) a piece."

When you deal with the Chinese, you will find them insidious, relentless and will not take responsibility for mistakes. How they've come to own us is a mystery to me, as it was clear at the starting gate they weren't our chums and not to be trusted. And I was first working with the Chinese back in 1995.

My old man is there now. He paints a similar picture, highlighting their inability to push forward on any project. I can't quite make it out either.

Depending on where you are and lock downs permitting you can have a good time there. One of the best, if not the best vegetarian restaurant I've ever ate in was a Buddhist vegetarian one in Shanghai. Last time I went there I stayed in a great Japanese owned hotel with restaurant and seriously good seafood.

Your father will know that the productiveness of Chinese labour against Western equivalents is about 3-1. When I was in Brazil 6-1, if not worse.

We had a failure on a project a couple of years ago. The global Quality Manager was assigned to do the report, but it was beyond him technically, so I came in as subject matter expert. There was 6 specialists who witnessed the non-conformance and 20+ Chinese folk who had signed it all off. Our Chinese office response was to bring in well qualified - internationally recognized - ''expert'' who just stated it was acceptable and walked away, wouldn't and to this day, take no responsibility and have ignored the lessons learnt.

You wouldn't want people from that type of culture, cultivating a virus in a lab...oh wait...

come now you know the answer to this. money. the answer to all of your questions is money.

our ruling elite decided to chase after every single last red cent they could and shipped off just about every single bit of manufacturing to China. you're hard pressed to find things that aren't made in china these days.

We're going to have a rough time in the future if these are the prevailing attitudes to the second and soon to be most powerful economy in the world. Don't forget before their population demographics drop off a cliff they are still the most populous nation and have a burgeoning consumer base.
