King of Dhaka discussion thread

Again with the odd mixing odd red tones.:unsure:
I've previously mentioned the relative lack of skill shown in the arm holes, but usually it only showed in the back.
On the plus side, the man knows how to stuff the pocket square just so anf the pocket flaps look freshly pressed today.

I'm unsure about the buttons here.
 
The buttons are almost under his armpits! LOL

He gets the ticket pocket on the left on all of his DB's? Or is this just a one off?
 
If only a white pocket square with this...
Those top buttons are indeed very far a part, not that I'm a DB expert of any sort. The ticket pocket has been on the usual other side in days past. He wears his watch on his left hand, for what that's worth.
 
Seems all of his DB's have the "extreme nipple placement" of the uppermost buttons. A shame as I quite like his DB's.

Not sure about the unique ticket pocket placement
 
Am I naive in my belief that a DB lapel should be able to be straightened across the chest and cover the opposite button? Am I hanging on to vestigial aspects? Because I don't see that being possible here.

While I'm here, has anyone else tried leaving comments or contacting him? He seems to not be up for international exposure.
 
Other than the fact that he took that jacket in way too far, that's a pretty good looking combo.

I can see why he sticks with the bedroom eyes though.
 
Oh, nothing new since the double-up from yesterday.
It does look like one can see the outline of a v-neck t-shirt here.

I kind of like the light blue buttons.
 
The lad has quite wardrobe. I have to wonder how much of it was tailored locally. Sometimes he looks as if he's trying a bit too hard, but he pulls off some of his other looks quite well.

Whenever I hear of Dhaka, I always think of Rudyard Kipling's poem "The Dove of Dacca."
 
Jan Libourel Jan Libourel , he owns his own suit factory. I believe all of his suits/odd jackets are now made there hence some of the experimental design elements e.g. The passport pocket instead of a breast pocket

I would also surmise his older gear is locally made.

It took me a few years and some wasted fabric, but finally I have been able to train one. Actually, the skills of many Dhaka tailors are quite good. With proper guidance they perform satisfactorily.

    thank you. i guess without endorsing any particular tailor (although other forums such as styleforum where u are a member do endorse) would u so kind as to create a list of maybe 3 that i could approach after arriving from London? do they stock material or do u get them from elsewhere ? thanks once again ….

    I go to only one and if you go to the same tailor yourself you not get the proper service. It’s because the tailoring standard in Bangladesh is under par mostly due to lack of fashion awareness of the consumers. So, if you want to try my tailor, let me know when you are in Dhaka. I almost want to put this in the Love It or Hate It? thread. A double breasted sport coat in this pattern really appeals to me. There is something weird with the pockets beside the poor pattern matching of the ticket pocket. The upper button placement issue has been addressed.
I like the shoes and the color of the pants, and they are paired well here. Tie is okay, the pocket square is a bit busy.
He seems to keep to much in his shirt pocket, making the lapel float off his chest.

The scale and colors of that top checked suit look nuttier from afar. I love it despite the hideous impracticality.
His attempts at matching pocket square color to the tie are a bit annoying, but prove better than an odd bright color.
I was going to comment on the shoe length, but the creasing suggests that his feet are that long.
The bottom one, close up, is a herringbone suit and a finely checked shirt. It is a perfect example of how adjacent patterns should be of different scale and intensity.

Understated enough here. Looking at all the shots, it's hard to tell if the coat is not sitting right because it was tossed on crooked or if the fit is just wanting.

Now this is more interesting, although I'm unsure if in a good way or not. I'll leave the commenting to others except to note that he has a striped NATO watch strap.

A shame, I really like the top half especially since he has chosen a sedate tie and square which is generally not the case.

That bottom one is prep school on top and kitchen cook on the bottom. Shame too since the top looks relatively good on him.

I hate this tie and the shirt stripes are a bit too close in scale to the suit's herringbone in my eye.
Am I nuts or is the coat pattern not properly level? It seem to V inward at the bottom.
