MLB 2016

At my first game of the season. $50 seats. Tried to get the top three tiers - all sold out. Ate at a Napoli pizza place before coming at the bottom of second. SkyDome - why am I emptying out my lighter, wallet, two mobiles and money clip? Money clip and wristwatch were okay?! Takes me one inning to get a round of beer. After multiple rounds, the same lady asks me for my ID - I'm confused, it's the third time I'm paying cash and tipping you 15-20% for pouring beer (poorly). She says "It's okay" - gives me a wink.

It has been years I haven't been in a box or in the full service restaurant. I didn't even know what 7th inning stretch was.

Does it make the Red Sox worth a shit? If so, I'm for it.

It's an interesting concept, MLB exists in a totally different sphere as any other sport I can think of because of the wage structure, though soccer is probably the closest relation, so maybe there is something there? They are the only sports where you can have such outsized contracts that can be moved. In the NFL the floor and ceiling are so tight, it doesn't make sense, and the NBA is so fucking convoluted with rules it's a non starter.

I'll have to ponder this some more.
 
I forgot the All Star was in Cincinnati. Now I know why they kept talking about it.
 
So the Blue Jays have a chance at the playoffs this year?
 
All Jays games are sold out in this six home game stretch including a Thursday afternoon one.
 
If you're ever in or around Toronto (well Canada really, we only have one team), the Blue Jays are hot. There's a buzz in the air and they get to the headlines of the radio and papers. That's all because they are co-leaders with the Yankees or have a shot at the wildcard spot. There are more scalpers, fake tickets, dodgy street merchants hawking wares.

What happens in other cities where the club is perennially in the playoffs? Like the Yankees? Atlanta Braves of yore? I don't know, who keeps making the playoffs? Tampa? Does the lustre come off after awhile?

Dodgers? Cubs? Angels? Athletics? Indians? Tigers? Yankees and Red Sox obviously.

People are tired of the "magic" ? For me, the Detroit Red Wings comes to mind.

No, they expect the magic. Whenever that doesn't happen its a disappointment.

Pretty much. Though anyone who was a Red Sox fan before 2004 is pretty much just happy for the ride.
 
Oh brilliant. The dome at the SkyDome is open tonight. With every game a sellout, I can hear the crowd roar whenever the Blue Jays score.

Having lived in this neighbourhood for seven years, I never experienced (suffered?) through this for baseball.
 
Crowd still roaring...over Tampa Bay. Long ago I chose these games because barely 10,000 people would come to these games and tickets plentiful.
 
Every time there is a Blue Jays game - home or away - the sports bar downstairs is full. Every few games, some wanker pulls the fire alarm.
