Music Of The Moment

What t f is going on. WTF is Eagle Rock? - other than a great Oz song

yeah yeah I now its the tired old Stones - but watch to the end to see Angus blow them all away - just imagine if Bon was around - make those effete english fuckers look like fools. Geez us Australians are great.

Doesn't one of them still dress in school-boy garb?

Outside of fanboys, it seems that sometimes New Order's back catalogue is often overlooked even by people who purport to to be Joy Division fans. Despite being a band that made perhaps the signature track of the 80's, a lot of their back catalogue is timeless and still very contemporary in sound. If you've got some time on your hands, I recommend putting on one of their albums and reminding yourself how good this band was.

New Order were massive with students back in the 80s, never liked them, thought most of their songs sounded the same.

The signature track of the 80 you refer to I suspect is Blue Monday. I would, however, give that accolade to Frankie Goes To Hollywood's Two Tribes.

I ran into Bernie Sumner in a chippy in Alderley Edge a few years back, both of us half-cut, nice bloke.

Testify brother.

great music videos of the 80's continues

directed by Michael Bay. Ostensibly better than any of his actual movies...

Simply one of the best orchestral performances l have ever heard. The brilliant 3rd movement from the Saint-Saëns piano concerto No.3 is as good as it gets, and the piano playing will never be surpassed, and possibly the best l have ever heard.

The last 30 seconds from 25:20 - end is mind blowing. Deep, romantic, passionate and extremely fast at the end with all ten fingers moving as fast as possible. It's also rare to hear an orchestra sound so perfect too.

Just heard this, at desk, up at 11 on dial, off the original vinyl on digital radio via Luxman Amp and my Yamaha NS-10M listening near field. Amazing. One of the all time great recordings. Here's a poor substitute.

Lee Ritenour always looks a bit weird when he plays his guitar. I blame it on the clothes and his hair (1991). But the bass player and the rest of the musicians are awesome:

Maybe 10 to 15 years ago you would occasionally see a brass band playing on public places in Bremen and/ or Hamburg.
It was quite a sight to see and always nice to listen to. Still popular in Bavaria, though.
Then came the pan flute playing South American natives trying to sell their CD's as well as former Soviet Unionists playing their stuff.
Now all you get are a few people who play an instrument to pre-recorded music.

If you ever feel like head banging to polka music:

Keep that up and you'll be banned.

This seriously might be the best article I have read in ten years. Partly because of timing, as I was actually driving down the road yesterday when Turbo Lover came on the radio and I started wondering to myself what the hell happened to all the grits. Kids these days are just so homogenized, there are no cool subcultures anymore. I can't remember the last time I saw a denim jacket with a Megadeth patch on it. But generally this movie is epic, and I'm glad to see someone bringing it to a new generation. Back then to get bootleg shit, it took massive amounts of work and luck. I'm not even sure how we managed to get together for house parties or even meet anyone. There is no such thing as underground anymore with the internet.
