Music Of The Moment

A teenaged girl pointed out Adele being played as I was shopping for Fulton brollies. I thought at first glance it was a rehash of Lionel Ritchie. She insisted it was original. I searched on Google and it says she is channeling Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald. Why settle for a pale imitation when one can listen to the original greats?

I wouldn't even mind if most of the shit around today was a pale immitation. But it's less than that. Infested by the immature over singing fostered by those singing shows on TV. If I have to explain again to an ignorant, but well meaning person that so and so new contestant isn't a great singer, I'll go postal. I have a few other issues to I must engage LelandJ on here.

I love listening to Flamenco, oh Paco de Lucia you were great.

Thanks for that thruth - never heard of them before. That first clip with band is great reminds me of Graham Parker crossed with The Pogues. A nice country feel too. I see the drummer is Hildago Jr - have to be good.

I came across this channel on Youtube recently. I enjoy watching the "What's in my bag?" videos. Obviously some musicians aren't going to share your music tastes, but most videos are good enough for one or two eclectic recommendations to listen to further. Worth checking out if you fancy listening to something a bit different.

The new The Arcs album is pretty good. By the same guy who sings in The Black Keys.

Outside of fanboys, it seems that sometimes New Order's back catalogue is often overlooked even by people who purport to to be Joy Division fans. Despite being a band that made perhaps the signature track of the 80's, a lot of their back catalogue is timeless and still very contemporary in sound. If you've got some time on your hands, I recommend putting on one of their albums and reminding yourself how good this band was.

The Perfect Kiss. Especially the second half of the song. Frogs. Sheep. Hook's bass melody.

yeah yeah I now its the tired old Stones - but watch to the end to see Angus blow them all away - just imagine if Bon was around - make those effete english fuckers look like fools. Geez us Australians are great.
