Speaking of that. I needed to stop by a courthouse today... talk about surreal. Every black and latino was on trial and every white person there was the lawyer. I'm not kidding, it was 100%.

I had t search to find out who Bruce Jenner was. I know a bit about the Kardashians because I go to the doctor and dentist once or twice a year. Other wise I wouldn't have a clue.

I do have this problem in waiting rooms as I read magazines that are solely devoted to "celebritys" and TV shows and fillums that I've never heard of - I then have to go back to work or come home and do Internet research to find out what I've been reading. Or many times not. I'm not convinced i'm missing out on anything.

Funnily I never see copies of the NEJM or Lancet in waiting rooms nor do I see collections of Australian short stories or anthologies of poems or any policy analysis or even an old copy of The Economist or New Scientist or HiFi magazines.

So I assume only idiots go and get medical or dental care?

Exactly. A lot of these "we must be free to carry guns" people are happy to see white males carrying guns around.

However, whilst I might be wrong, I'd be willing to bet that they wouldn't be nearly as happy to see people of Middle-Eastern or African-American background carrying AR-15 assault rifles around. Unfortunately, most of them are too blind to their own foolish prejudices to realise their own hypocrisy.
 
Pretty sure OPants posted a black guy carrying an AR-15 on a street in Alabama before and the cops came and arrested him, can't remember if they shot and killed him too though lol.

No. Did you read the book? It explains how we ended up with such a mountain of idiotic and petty laws where police can randomly accuse anyone of anything.

You're going for the corpo-media line with racism. The real issue is how on earth we let the state become so grindingly all consuming that anything you do can be considered disturbing the peace, when in reality it's just citizens expressing free speech. Don't get fooled by the company line, this is about the repercussions of allowing a police state to exist.

Because they're black, everyone will distract and focus on their race. Even the people involved will. It would be in error, as it's not about that at all.

I was at a seminar a while back on "new" technology and health.

A report was on a small study done of around 100 "health" apps - theres thousands more than that - the apps mostly didn't even do what they said they'd do. But more importantly - even if they did roughly what they said they'd do it was inaccurate in health terms or used plainly wrong methods of deriving output information. They also lacked any consistency between apps - within Apple. So that NONE of the 8 or so BAC calculators delivered the same BAC result for identical inputs.

There is no reason to expect that most of the other apps in other fields as well are any more accurate. Look, feel and cuteness are the driving factors in apps. Not accuracy.

No one complains - or does any real research on the apps as they mostly cost people only a few dollars and people don't have enough brains to figure out they are shit. Creating a successful app might bring in more easy dollars than selling leather jackets - and certainly less headaches from customers.
