Also, they were stupidly engaging in a foul-a-thon which ate up time and disrupted any flow they could develop. The referee was awful, he wouldn't show a yellow for anything and players were falling down at the slightest contact all over the pitch. Typical S American garbage football, really.

If anyone believes that Brazil had any control of that game past 20 minutes, you're kidding. They finished the game substituting in defenders because they were backs to the wall. That's not a performance that should command the statement "how about those Brazilians now".

Wimbledon is on instead of football. I unfortunately will be at afternoon tea and probably a Cuban festival for the duration of the fixtures. I vote for the Europeans to advance.
 
Argentina took game one pretty easily. They certainly look like the favorites so far.

So disappointed with Belgium. They had more talent on the field but came up against a very stubborn defense that got an early goal they could sit back on. A Dutch - German final is on... wow, a repeat of '74.

Yes. That Argentina team is not very good. They sat on a lead well, they did nothing else to impress me. Not that the Dutch were world beaters, but I just don't see enough quality thru their side to go thru.

I've never seen a game like that. That was one of the biggest capitulations in football history. To loose 7-1 is understandable if you're Andorra, but a 5 time world champion? It's otherworldly.

That Argentina team is so mediocre, its incredible.

This cup will be remembered for some good matches, but also for the fact that there are no great teams in it. That German team is basically the same one that lost 2 and 4 years ago.
 
What the hell is it with these phantom free kicks for Brasil's favour? Piss off, they aren't giving you envelopes of cash anymore after missing out on the final
