The All-Inclusive Shoe & Boot Thread

You seem to be a black shoo fan Thruth. There are times when they can look good and blend in nicely and don't need just to be worn formally.
Only of late. I have only 6 pair. These, Balmoral boot, double monk boots, austerity brogue derby boots, wingtip gunboats and a pair of wingtip Oxford shoes. Oh, yeah and a pair of vintage Dack’s PTB i just got in water bison that I have to pick up at the cobbler as they are getting resoled.

I hold my shoes in the original boxes, but of course you could save some space with a proper rack or a nice shoe cabinet, with the advantage to see all your shoes at one glance.

Mine are in the original shoo boxes away from light and dust. I like shoo boxes.

Shoo rack = no way.

Here's a nightmare story.

I came from work a few years ago to find a beaming new housemaid who was doing her work while Mrs Ambrose played on Facebook.
The housemaid greeted me by the door and pointed beaminingly to my piled up shoe boxes, which she was about to start throwing in the garbage.

Had I arrived a moment later I would have had to change into jeans to rescue them from a skip. Which rubber soles boots would have suited that task?

Close call. Why did she take it upon herself to do that?

Because she had never seen someone store shoes in their boxes before. Do we store shirts in the bags they arrive in? For her they were just rubbish.

I would have been tempted to sack her, but at the very least there would have been some serious words said.

Some of my boxes now have clear tape around them to hold them together. Did my 17 year old Trickers box the other day. Keeping the old boxes makes things special and adds to the charm.

Good idea on the tape. Some of mine are in need of treatment.

See the repaired Trickers box. The Florsheim Imperial box has also ben repaird along with numerous Vass boxes not in the photo.

Yes, it is a part of a mountain of boxes going up to the ceiling with numerous rows behind. One mountain of many. :o

Outside of shoos there are boxes and boxes of socks along with many huge bags of jumpers.
You should definitely consider the photo on the box technique with that number of shoes.

WTF?

I'm in the wrong forum.

Is that not a politically correct word? Should it be 'houseperson'? At my age I find all these changes troublesome. It's like when I request the 'waitress ' and somebody on the table whispers 'server' into my ear.

You would never want to be politically correct, because that is pandering to a vocal group that has a political agenda, hence "politically correct". Who makes the rules, this small vocal group of unvirtuous authoritarians or traditions/customs set by our creator? At the moment a small vocal group of people are trying to change customs and traditions, and they are trying to change the meaning of language. People are falling for it. Look up words in old dictionaries and you'll see many words have been changed to suit political agendas (politically correct). Political correctness tries to get forced on people and abolish traditions, and it is often discriminatory and racist in nature. It divides communities and tries to confuse people so they don't know who they are anymore. Don't fall for the delusions folks, it's a trap based in communist ideals.

You are probably right, Shooey. But let's try and keep this thread about footwear.

Here's a shoe-related question: Now that we have pavements and we are not walking in mud and sewage as was once the case, do ankle boots serve any purpose other than to support weak ankles? And should functionality be even considered?

WTF?

I'm in the wrong forum.
‘A man needs a maid’. This according to Canadian streetwear influencer Mr. Neil Young.

‘I was thinking that maybe I'd get a maid
Find a place nearby for her to stay
Just someone to keep my house clean
Dust my shoo boxes and go away’

Just shocked that people have servants. It’s not my world.
sorry.
carry On

There’s not a whole lot of servitude in an occasional cleaning service. Actually, there’s a whole lot of attitude and a long list of their do’s and don’ts.

I keep the majority of my dress shoes in boxes. I have taped some boxes up with duct tape as most of them aren’t that sturdy. Even better a few years ago I’ve scored a whole lot of new empty shoe boxes of basic crap brands that are better, bigger and stronger than most iGent brand boxes. I’ve snaffled a bunch of those with metal finger holes. Great.

I think Tibor riding the bus says everything.

Sarto made me attend to virtual classes of Dr. Levi Holzman from Tel Aviv and he showed deeply interested in studying the huge psychopatology surrounding the tailoring world, soon he might join the forum to explain the different Personality Disorders among it.

On this inmature being dressing tophats to go elegant restaurants as Mickey Dees or Wendys, is clearly this disorder, very common in degenerate bloggers as Cravatte Black.

Note the latest studies rate it among the Schyzophrenia group, being a light form of it. DSM V

What are the symptoms of schizotypal personality disorder?
Schizotypal Personality Disorder Symptoms
  • Dress, speak, or act in an odd or unusual way.
  • Be suspicious and paranoid.
  • Be uncomfortable or anxious in social situations due to their distrust of others.
  • Have few friends.
  • Be very uncomfortable with intimacy.
What is a schizotypal person like?

Peculiar, eccentric or unusual thinking, beliefs or mannerisms. Suspicious or paranoid thoughts and constant doubts about the loyalty of others. Belief in special powers, such asmental telepathy or superstitions. Unusual perceptions, such as sensing an absent person's presence or having illusions.

The lifetime prevalence of schizotypal personality disorder in the general United States population has been estimated at just under 4 percent. The disorder is associated with significant disability, as well as a wide range of psychiatric comorbidities. Schizotypalpersonality disorder is challenging to treat.

I just bought a Barker Derby Houston in Brown. Goodyear welted, made in Northampton for £99.00 in the summer sale. I nearly went for the Phoenix Oxford. Both on the 386 last.

cant wait for dr holzman to join the forum

pretty inferior socks unworthy of those shoos imho. ymmv. nvm
What the fuck are you talking about? I am unworthy of the shoos let alone my ghetto socks that should have been binned several years ago.
BTW, all of you boys should come back and visit more often. Too many members who would freak a freak if you called out their shoddy sock game like you did me. Y’all might dig that. Horses for courses and Vespa for life.

Great buy. I have a pair of or two of Barker that use that last. Works well for me; not too slender but not clumpy either.
I never talk Loake down but I think Barker at comparative prices have the edge.

I've seen Barker's in the UK, never seen them here, they looked okay. Same price range as Loake.

Barker as much as you may want it, falls into the mid-range, but high quality. A canny buy. And I know diplomats who sport Barker before other ranges. It says you cannot be bought.

So away with your Loake BS.
