The James Bond Thread

The new James Bond film is finished but delayed due to coronavirus. Is that a social decision or a commercial decision that potential box office revenues would be negatively impacted?

^ I suspect it's a commercial decision. Various other movies have been delayed, too, and in many cases this happened a few weeks ago, before the more serious social distancing rules were introduced (depending upon where people are located, of course).

I walked past my local multiplex cinema yesterday and it was deserted - the doors were half shut, there was no-one at the ticket desk, and I couldn't see anyone walking around the foyer area.

I was rather looking forward to seeing Mulan and Black Widow, but we'll just have to wait.

revenues. no one will be going to the movies for a long while. mulan got delayed as well.

The current celebrity culture and entertainment industries are going to get swept away by this. It will be like The Jazz Singer, all the old stuff from that world will be too old fashioned for mass consumption.

That's a serious licensed ripoff on the swimming trunk front!

I like the idea of the shirts, but T&A still do some of the original shirts and occasionally some of the short sleeved ones for the summer. And for not much more cost wise.

indeed. I totally see you strolling the hague looking all james bond in some short sleeved t&a

OB has been doing this for years, nothing new. I have a pair of the Thunderball ones I got on sale a few years back.

By the time this sucker comes out, it will be out dated.

Clips I've seen look heavy on the CGI. That's like Dynamation, it just isn't believable anymore.

They're too greedy to stream it for 16-24 Euros knowing full well the whole family is watching it. In these times, it would be gracious to go straight to streaming. To give a little of bit joy in the darkness of endless lockdowns.

And guess what, it will be delayed a fourth time.

Anyone planning to watch it in the cinema?

Last one before Bond turns brown, black, oriental or queer I reckon.

AT 47 he's a bit over the hill to be playing Bond for the first time IMO. Craig was what - late 30s? That at least gave him a good run at it before he started to look like Connery in Never Say Never Again...

Craig never worked for me as Bond, and as a good Chester/Cheshire/Wirral chap, as I am, I should have been really into him flying the flag. But he always looked too working class for me - he suits more kitchen sink type drama. Like Our Friends in The North, in which he was the best out of all the actors.

Idris is definitely too old, what would you get 2 films out of him? You'd need at least 3 to keep the franchise going.

What are the odds they try for a Bond Multiverse franchise, with several 00 plot lines? I think they missed an opportunity to lock in Paloma for a spin-off - AdA might be too busy now.

Doing another James Bond reboot could get very tired.

I thought Daniel Craig was done? Last time they re-did Casino Royale so now it's fair game to re-do all the other old movies with some new faces.

But the DC story arc went from new agent to dead, so they will have to do a reboot with the next actor. How many times can we watch new actors doing a different interpretation of the same basic plot line? I’m not against it, but I think that the spin-offs could be a lot more interesting at this point.

Like who? Ben Whishaw being Q? Ralph Fiennes as M? ... random 009, 00x agents? That might end up being like Bourne.

Wouldn't it be more exciting if the new James Bond was a trans/queer Sima Liu hitting on straight men?

So you want a straight girl to go sleep with men in the espionage community, shoot up things, drink martinis and do stunts?

Does the Bond girl turn into Bond man and we have male singers for the Bond theme?

You have some unusual fixations

Just means a bunch of Brits will be back. I'd be happy to see Michael Caine as Q but I think he's 90+ now.

I thought people here wanted a queer/trans aboriginal South American to play M.
