I liked it cause I think it goes with the textures of the SC's that I have.
 
I like the texture provided by raw silk. But as I mentioned earlier in the thread, I imagine in fifteen years time, we'll view them as we view the geometric ties of the 90's today.
 
I struggle with that shade of blue, but I especially like the middle one.
 
I'd want to see one tied before I bite. At that price, I'm a bit suspicious. I've heard the grenadines are pretty heavily lined (which isn't great for a grenadine). Still, if the wool ties a nice knot, I'd probably get one.

On a different note, Henry Carter's 7 folds continue to impress me. When on sale, I doubt you'd find a better value. Generally though, they're priced right. Since HC operates out of his house, he cares more about clearing space than about the extra $$

One of the reasons I love blends is that they provide a texture interesting and subtle that most 100%'s fail to (either on the interesting or subtle front).

I think I like the pattern of the first one, even if the scale is a bit big and orange is always tricky.
The painted pattern is even more casual. As you stated, neither comes with very much practicality. I'm seeing linen helping for each...
 
Agree with linen. Another thing that works very well for difficult ties is a three piece. The vest covers up much of the color, so you've got the tie sort of cordoned off a bit. I've seen it a few times, though I don't have a great example on hand (though I do have one demonstrating the same effect with large scale neats...which suffer, though not as much, for somewhat similar reasons.

Geez, unless you're in some artsy profession or just wear lots of ironic clothing, this trio should be sufficient for most fun/casual/daring tie applications. They certainly can't be called boring.
Yeah, the 90s thing. If you're going to do that old tie with a work shirt (or at least sport shirt, two pockets, a heavy fabric, that sort of thing) gimmick, these sorts of ties find a use.

I've seen plenty of orange knits, but very few of anything in an orange silk that didn't have a sherbert looking color to it.
 
May go with Hober. I'm more likely to go with this (which I've had my eye on for while):

and then get one of Post Imperial's (Tirailleur) ties when he finally puts them out. I was thinking in terms of knits, so I'll check out Ben Silver.
 
I'm all for bold colors, but burnt orange seems way more useful than flag or signal or whatever the heck you call a bright orange would be..
 
I got my Chorn Chorn on today and picked up three ties of which he'd approve.

3) Drakes Navy grenadine with lime dots.

Henry Carter, an SF affiliate vendor. One of the few actively involved with "the people" (i.e. he regularly posts fit pics of himself). On sale, I doubt there is a better value out there for a good 7-fold.

Making a choice is easy--I build around the tie. I decide to wear a tie and then set out to figure out what best goes with it. At least I used to. These days, I probably start with a jacket (if anywhere). Still, it's easy to think "brown tie" and then go about determining which works best. None really are redundant. It's always a clear choice.

ElAr, the only ties I'd part with are ties I'm not sure you'd want. From the bad old days of when I first started dressing myself.
 
I don't, however, feel the same way about pocket squares. There may be a few that I'd be willing to part with that are also actually useable.
 
Oh, yeah, Capelli. They didn't strike me as particularly small--aren't they carried by some pretty major retailers?
 
Here's the cashmere Gitman. A bit on the slim side, but it feels so nice. Slight Birdseye pattern with a bit of navy underneath it up close

It's a beautiful tie, but the inability to get a good knot with it is why I dislike slim wool ties.
