I found out what happened to AOC: The cows got her!

Comrades. OLO.

She's absolutely right though, I'm basically 100% for government healthcare at this point. Companies have no business being the healthcare providers for the country.

Black face or brown face? The brown people were smiling in another photograph next to him and the local news radio interviewed brown people who said they either don't care or don't need an apology. Why only white people make an issue of racist issues these is a bit beyond belief.

If toleration of racism was illegal then the US ought to stop anyone who was born during segregation from running for President. We'd be down to Beto and Booker.

Neither does the government

It's a vexed, and complicated issue.

On the one hand, healthcare is vitally important and arguably shouldn't be left to private, for profit companies that will inflate costs, perform unnecessary procedures etc.

On the other hand, of course, private companies are (theoretically, at least) meant to be more efficient at running things because if they are not, it means they make less profit and/or more prone to being beaten by a competitor.

Government, on the other hand, often has the reputation of being bloated, inefficient, wasteful and so on.

However, looking at private health firms, there still seem to be an awful lot that are bloated, inefficient, wasteful and don't provide good care. Why is that so? I don't know the answer. I suppose a partial answer is that they are large organisations and large organisations, whether public or private, are almost always bloated, inefficient and so on. Another partial answer is that healthcare - particularly for serious conditions - is different from shopping for a car or an item of clothing. There's much more emotion involved, much less ability or willingness to go to provider B instead of provider A. Also, perhaps, there's much less transparency or understanding about what should be done - we tend to rely upon what we are told by doctors and specialists so if they think we need a battery of tests, we tend to accept it.

this is a ridiculous dichotomy when it comes to healthcare.

this is a ridiculous dichotomy when it comes to healthcare.

It is, however, often the current state of the debate - not only in regard to healthcare but also a whole range of other issues. Politics seems to be more partisan, with people often adopting a broad ideological position regardless of whether that position actually makes sense with regard to a particular issue.

Compulsory insurance with a safety net for the unemployed and low income is the way to go. Works in the countries in mainland Europe that have adopted such a system.

If you can afford the insurances the USA offers the best health care in the world, second to none.

A 100% government NHS style fix will lead to rationing of treatments and lotteries for expensive treatments.

i dont know where you learned this but its absolutely insane and you should stop saying it.

this is not true

We do offer the best care money can buy, whether you agree is a different topic.
I dont agree with that at all. You can find just as good quality care in several other places around the world. American health care is severely overrated

Anyone who uses the word comrade is a non ironic fashion is an abject moron.

most American lefties under 50 say conrad these days, after this became a meme:

It’s still used a lot in other countries - without the leftist undertones. Mostly in the defense forces, but also in other fields.

Tory MP Sir Desmond Swayne says blackface is an entirely acceptable bit of fun.

Apparently he once went to a Blues Brothers fancy dress as James Brown. Footage of the event would be interesting.

In queue right after the Max Mosley videos of debauchery.

Would it shock anyone if the leading Democratic candidates don't quite remember because they are becoming senile?

She is MSM's darling right now. Hunter is hurting Uncle Joe badly and I really think Warren will get the nomination.

She's a liberal politician for our times, she'd fit right in with the clowns in the UK's Labour Party:
