The SF/AAAC/FNB trainwreck thread

If one were to have joined the hallowed world of online menswear late--say, 2012--would that person have missed more disastrous occurrences (since they are online events, let us call them e-vents for simplicity) on AAAC or SF?

Also, why does Andy Gilchrest get to develop a website around himself? He doesn't seem astoundingly well dressed, even for a man his age. Just good at self-promotion?

Wasn't there that one woman, spb_lady or something who posted on waywn? And another one tomgirl but all she did was threaten to crash Toronto restaurants I went to. To be honest other than the F1 thread and when Mad Men or Downton Abbey are in season I stopped posting on Styleforum. I still announce a few restaurants in my food diary thread.

Thanks, Rambo. Old I may be, but I hope not too creepy.

I think of some of the good old days of SF--some of the great characters like Kalra and Ernest, the black suit thread and much more. I don't spend nearly as much time as I used to on SF. About the only thread I'm really active in is "Finding Bigfoot."

Andyland was great when I first got involved in it (2004-6) although the moderation was always pretty darn fascistic. The ascendancy of Cruiser really eviscerated that forum. The great "3-roll-2" thread when large numbers of former members returned to lay into Cruiser was epic! However, the forum never really got its mojo back even after the departure of Cruiser. While I still participate some, most of my participation is limited to one-line responses.
 
I feel like an interesting narrative article could be written about the rise and fall of online menswear (assuming we've reached the saturation point)

A surprising number of plebs at school showed up for OCI's today in relatively groupthought outfits. Lots of blue and charcoal suits, only white and blue shirts, with rather conservative ties.

Footwear was a complete crapfest though.

Why? Junior Mouse sent me a fucking link to some Reddit clothing forum that has 250k members or posts or some shit. Jackoff fashion is the biggest thing since Epaulet.
