The SF/AAAC/FNB trainwreck thread

img_7651-png.21759

Ive messaged the contact on his blogspot offering my condolences and asked to clarify who it was. My guess is the female in the pics is his daughter, and she was the one who actually did the uploading and forum posts for him.

I hate to be forward at a time like this, as I really genuinely feel bad - as AH was a forum staple when I first started posting and as you can see I started this thread a long time ago wondering about him.... but I am DYING to know what is going to happen to his wardrobe. I would do anything to have the chance to sell it...

I am sure Aaron's wardrobe consists of much KitonBrioni

There was a thrift thread death that Spoo was angling to exploit but sadly the thread members really let Spoo down by simply making donations to various animal charities instead, thus cutting Spoo out of his percentage of a sale

Looks to me, like SF is now on the same platform as DW.

Well, as the old saying goes, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery!

I just wandered over for a look and I'm not impressed. The front page is now filled with "promoted threads/posts" that make it look even more like a wannabe men's style magazine, rather than a discussion board.

Furthermore - although this may be something that will be hammered out as time goes by - the front page currently appears to list random threads, rather than the threads that I've most commonly read or commented in, as used to be the case.

When I tried to search for the "Australian Members" thread, all of the search results were from old Buying and Selling threads. Similarly, when I went to my profile to try to find the Aus Members thread by looking through my old posts, the only old posts that were listed on my profile, were posts that I'd made on items in the Buying and Selling subforum.

I mean this is some bullshit, even for me. They're even using the resource manager for classifieds like we were.

Everyone there is going to hate the shit out of it.

I like this interface much more than SF. Are you referring specifically to the resource manager?

Why change platform at all? Did Huddler get to expensive, for the falling number of users?
For a forum of that size, with paying advertisers laying serious money, I would not call the transfer professional.
- announcement pretty abrupt
- site totally closed down for at least a day
- no engagement with brands (advertisers) for a few days
- UI looks like a mess
- using the same theme, as a breakout forum in the same space

Fok fucked up.

Of course they will hate it. DW has been designed with the users in mind, with input from us. Fuck some of us even dig into our own pockets to keep it going.

SF has just foisted the same style on its users without their input and with the advertisers supposedly in mind - though I can't see how they could be happy with the resultant dog's breakfast.

Journeyman Journeyman do you have issues with watched threads here? sorry, i'm just following along on styfo with the complaint mill.

No, not at all. I noticed a while back that there's a "watched threads" option on the menu bar at the top here, but I usually just look at the "alerts" tab and go from there.

However, when I was looking at SF, I didn't notice the "watched threads" button, as it's in a different place (and may not even have been there when SF first switched over), and I wasn't getting any alerts at all.

new SF is shit. Many old images appear lost. DM and followed threads totally fucked. try to find a users posts or threads started by a user through users profile page also fucked. unusable for me at this point. the level of fucked makes me very happy.
