Navy seersucker and cream linen I really like for summer
But really, since we get up to 50C I mostly wear casual linen shirts with no giacca

So then, what's the consensus with those wool, silk and linen blends from Loro Piana (if I recall correctly) that Caccioppoli distributes?

Better alternatives of summer jacketings?

I see those as spring jacketings
Summers are so hot here, as you already know!
BTW when someone mentions Cacciopoli I think of cachopo.

Sarto had this tissue some time ago but when I inquired about he only had a length for making ties.

for jackets : solid linen, solid summer weight open weave hopsacks or mock lino type things, solid linen/silk blends with surface interest, minnis riviera book (unfortunately discontinued), some linen/silk blends with checks if the colors are right and the pattern suitably classic.

for suits : big fan of mohair in all patterns and solid linen

I've a mohair suit in the (re)making. Don't know why but I'm suspicious about linen. Don't attract me. The accordion sleeve effect is repulsive. Maybe cotton-linen for a trouser but not for a giacca. Maybe I'm wrong. I never tried heavy linen.

You should try 25oz flannel for your next summer diet. It'll help.

That's one reason I really like the silk/linen/wool blends. I'm more a bamboo guy these days though. 1/4 lined, patch pockets, nice and light...

Summer = Irish linen in a tasteful hue of tobacco (the darker, the better), Solaro, or faux-tweed in fine cashmere-silk blend.

Undo as many shirt buttons as you can get away with.

Done.

Silk runs hot. Cashmere runs hot. Do you live in Norway??
By the grace of G-d, no! Who would want to live among uncultivated, oil-rich brutes?!! What next, will you suggest Saudi Arabia?

Silk and cashmere, as with any other tissu, can be woven to "run" any which way you like. Silk, in this case, is usually blended in to give just a touch of sheen (92% cashmere-8% silk is quite a common combination). A lot of these blends "run" much cooler than cotton (e.g. Solaro), that's for sure. Ermenegildo Zegna and, if memory serves, Carlo Barbera used to produce many tissus in such fine cashmere-silk blends. (Fine as in "thin, light" for you non-English speakers: the adjective was not in the first place used to imply an aesthetic judgement.)

I am sure they still have them on offer.

Silk-wool-linen wears cool and does not scrunch up and crease like linen.

Never been one for the creased look. Might look fine and sprezzy when standing but linen jacket backs look like shit after sitting and I am not about to take off and put on a fucking jacket over and over

Traditional solaro runs hot too.

It is common knowledge but heavier linen helps with the rumpleness; though it still rumples. W.Bill/ H&S/ Scabal all make those ( or used too). I don't care for Solbiati linen which i saw some swatches of last year, though it looked interesting and softer and in pretty heavyweight

Wool-Linen, for those who can't stand the dégagé look of pure linen, which i like ( Taylor-Lodge used to make some - i am sure others do too - and i have it in 'blogger blue', standard navy and brown). And as mentioned silk-wool-linen blends for the subtle sheen.

Never tried Bamboo.

one summer tissue dream I've been having recently : sporting stripe blazer.

its a classic, but I have mixed feelings about it. It's so uncommon it may look iGent-ish much like striped seersucker or even worse. I hope you are joking about commissioning one?

that's better than the classic blue on white
which I wore in the past too
didn't realize I just can't pull it off (does anybody?)

big boy vintage dormeuil surprise tissues have arrived from an obscure Greek source.
will update with pictures later today.
Stay tuned...

It’s also not completely uncommon to see in New York City during the dog days of summer.

No, it's definitely not uncommon, especially with the legal types.

It is the classic one, sure. But not everyone can pull it off. Pincord could be an alternative though it does not wear as cool.
It's just rather uncommon here. YMMV.

I'm not kidding when I say we are born into it. My son wears one of my seersucker rompers from when I was a baby. It's the yellow one though, the blue one bit the dust. Still have the blue/white shorts though from the matched set.

the question is then, will you bespeak one with Pooles? put your money where your mouth is, so to speak.

That's a good question. I've thought about it over the years, but I'm not sure they can cut it correctly. Not a slight in anyway, it's just much different than their usual.

I have plenty of seersucker already, just none from them.
