Tweed Jacket

I think I'm going to have to find something in the unsafe to sell, but I'm planning on ordering two hacking jackets.

1. Medium weight green 3 button, slim fitting, hacking pockets and throat tab, leather buttons, two vent in this

2. Light weight beige melange 2 button with slim lapels, hacking pockets, leather buttons, two vents and possibly elbow patches (still undecided on that).

Olive herringbone is great. I can't get a sense of the second fabric and fear it won't pair well with khaki. Don't go too slim.
 
Thanks - I was on the fence on the patches. I'll wait till I wear the elbows out before patching them!
 
I am in rare agreement with Rambo. Patches are an affectation. A tweed that goes threadbare in the elbows is either decades old or pretty sad from the start.
 
I get Kingfisher blue in all of mine, which is close to the Royal pictured above.

Hahahah. Bilateral wrinkling makes the above crowsfeet.

In honesty, this is the first time I have heard either term used. The thick MOP buttons in the chicken foot picture look pretty juicy.
 
Do you know what the name of the stitching used to sew those buttons is called? Is there a functional difference between that and the usual x or ll method?
 
I thought it was called chicken foot, hence the reference. That's what the image from Gentleman's Gazette or whatever was called.
I think Borreli or someone features buttons sewn on like that. AFAIK it's purely a distinction thing.
Crowsfeet tweed anyone? I'll flag tweedville if it gets me an answer.
 
After the UPS COD debacle mentioned elsewhere, I finally got my order from Bespoke Meares. The fit and quality seems good and the brown is very nice .... But they used the wrong fabric on the second jacket!

Instead of a herringbone olive green I got a jacket in grey with some loud orange checks. Arrrggghhhhh!

I'm hoping for some good customer service to make amends for this.

Well, anything with orange is markedly less practical. But yeah, if they let you keep it for a sizable discount (or better yet, free), it would be a sweet piece on occasion.
 
Dropbear - take a snap from a distance - give us a practical /real life squiz - I'd be inclined to keep it.

I meant to warn you before - now its too late - but I have a Magee Donegal Tweed in what looks like that exact colour you posted above. Its is very Irish/UK cut with un-relaxed shoulders etc, pinched waist and very loooong double vents.

I like it but...it wears so warm that I only get to wear it about 6 times a year in Melbourne and even then its a matter of trying hard to wear it. It also doesn't go that well with many trousers in my experience. I'm thinking of getting rid of it.
 
It really just depends on the compensation. Its not awful, but its not exactly the sharpest color combo either. If they give it to you for next to nothing I wouldn't necessarily recommend burning it. Otherwise, get the lighter fluid.

You're not wrong! After two months of waiting and an additional hassle with UPS delivery, I was not a happy camper last night.

I will say that I am very happy with the fit and construction. I will post some quality photos in a proper review thread once I have steamed out the packing creases in this one and I have received the correct jacket. For now:

I am still exchanging emails with them about a plan to remedy the situation. They have offered to let me keep the screwed-up jacket order and then make the correct green jacket at half cost. However, I really have no interest in this abomination. It isn't the worst fabric I have ever seen, but it is not something I would wear and really doesn't suit the style - full-on hacking jacket with throat tab and leather buttons.

Thanks for the input, mate. Sounds similar, though I opted for a medium-light weight Haines tweed.

Those salmon horizontal stripes are...bold.
What is everybody's take on the line pattern and the lapel? I'm not big on such narrow lapels, but I get the sense that they just trimmed their standard given the curvature shown against the plaid line.
The shoulder and collar look to have a good fit.

I suspect this is suffering from some action shot-itis, but what is going on with all that sleeve rippling?
 
You have to return that hideous mistake unjacket as it's bad luck even keeping it for free, and them asking you to pay half price for it is hilarious.

How tall are you?
