WDYBT: What Did You Buy Today

Would have looked good as you dad danced to Crushed by the Wheels of Industry.
They did play that and interestingly enough, I would put us at the lower end of the age group there, and the eldest probably the youngest one. I know because it's a double small venue and with tickets sold under Covid restrictions there was plenty of space to people watch the crowd.
Never seen a polo with pockets.
There's loads, like the above, handy to put your sunglass clip-ons in.

Still not as bad as button down collars on a polo:

Just ordered this, sized up based on the specs on the RL website, now this is the type of chore/engineer jacket I'm digging at the moment:

Returned this...I shouldn't have sized up for starters but the cloth I expected to have a bit of denim firmness to it, but it was more like an overshirt cloth. Plus it was bit washed out it places.

Maybe if I had got the right size, I'd feel differently. Anyway, I can always reorder in the right size and with the free shipping and returns, there's nothing lost.

Bought some bedroom furniture that is made out of reclaimed rosewood, CC is screaming in debt right now.

Nice! Do you know what it was reclaimed from?

I used to have a coffee table made from the wood off an old 1800s sailboat.

Pulled the trigger on these Buzz Rickson's...with the right engineer's chore jacket they'll be another winner at the NSJF this year:

Jockey are having a 40% off sale, so grabbed a Cotton Turtle neck, two luxury mercerised Cotton tee's and a pair of luxury mercerised Cotton boxers/trunks. All very reasonable.

The trunks are okay, the Turtle is quite nice. Whilst the tee's are so good I ordered another four. Mercerised Cotton made in Thailand at £12.50 each with the code SEMI40 and free shipping.

Finally made it through customs with a €6.00 fee:

The Buzz Rickson's are mighty thick cotton, much better than the RRL equivalent. One of the RRL graphic t-shirts I had to send back as not only was it tight on my pecs it was tight on the nipples. The youngest shook their head in disapproval.

I'll wear one, or maybe all three of them at the NSJF this weekend. With an appropriate chore jacket, maybe even the USMC one, now I've earned my stripes 😉

I have ordered three Supima tee's, and a Merino Turtle from Uniqlo. A Lambswool V neck from Cordings. And four pairs of 100% cotton socks from Corgi.

The tee's with the discount code work out at £11.56. This is far cheaper than the Grana or Rise and Fall tee's I have been looking at. I have also ordered a Supima tee from Lands End too.

Thank you for cervix.

I bought two shirts from Oliver Brown online. One is made in England, the other has no country of origin and is in aircel fabric. Lightweight shirts are hard to comeby. I have a few Leno and Giro Inglese shirts. I missed out on Harvie and Hudson airtex shirt a few seasons ago. Budds airtex is the same price as their Swiss luxury cotton.

Oliver Brown opened on Jermyn Street last year. Hopefully they don't go the same way as Grosvenor or Duchamp.

I ordered another four luxury mercerised cotton tee's/undershirts from Jockey after ordering two last week. I also ordered two tee's from Alan Paine. I am not too sure about these, they may go back. They don't feel very soft.

I haven't heard of them before. They are now on my radar.
I found them through Ethan at Brycelands, iirc.
Chinese made but extremely high quality cotton. I believe we’ve talked about them here before,
maybe do a search. I use their henleys (short and long sleeve) as well as regular t-shirts (black and white).
delivery takes about 2-3 weeks, and price is very good for the quality.

Well the Alan Paine tee's are not, otherwise they wouldn't feel like sand paper...
The primary and intended benefit is to make the cotton brighter and shinier e.g. lustre (colours and whites). The lye rearranges the cellulose structure and the fibres become round and smooth and have better light reflection.

The major secondary benefits discovered after the fact were stronger and smoother fibres, increased dye affinity (less dye needed), increased shrinkage resistance, increased fade resistance. Softness is rarely mentioned in connection with mercerized cotton.

But the fact is there is good cotton and shit cotton and that influences softness. The process works better with better quality cotton, especially fine long staple e.g. Pima, Egyptian, Sea Island because finer, longer fibres suck up more lye which enables them to then suck up more dye than lesser cottons. But all cotton benefits.

I have just ordered a Schneider rain coat and Harrington, and Kilgour Polo and mercerised cotton tee from Malford of London.

Do we have a link for Bronson in the recommendations thread? If not could you please work up a post with a quick review when you get a chance?

Do you ever return/get rid of stuff? Alternatively, do you live in a warehouse?
Warehouse, well two spare bedrooms. I virtually never return anything. My brother gets anything that doesn't fit me as gifts as he is the next size down.
